PS3 system update

whats this 1080p/24fps second thingy that people go on about, i have 1080i HDTV and have watched the freebie bond film and the picture and playback was spot on, no judders or anything, it it just a 1080P problem and whats is it thats the actual problem?

I'd like 1080/24p support added. After touting 1080p (and releasing some lovelly devices that support 24p), Sony really have no excuse.
The TV also has to support that and AFAIK there are very little or no TV's that support it, or is that wrong?

This had to come at a time when my nets playing up!!

500k ADSL for the lose!

There are somescreens that display at 1080/24p, and a few projectors. It won't be long untill it's a common and expected feature - who wants judder in pans when watching a movie at 1080p? After spending all this cash I certainly don't.

My main point is - the BR players is a major selling point for the PS3. Soon there will be BR players that do the job properly for under half the price of a PS3.

Right now this is the sole reason I don't own a PS3.

I downloaded super rub a dub from the store about 2 days ago, it installed but wouldn't load, got some error with a number, so i deleted and tried again, it let me download/install it but wouldn't load again, today i see it's up again so i thought i'd try and download it again but it won't even download now! i keep getting an error, also the size is 100kb?

A part of me is thinking 'zomg YES, PS1 classics on the way! And probably in 1080i/p too!' while another part of me wonders just why the hell Sony is ignoring the actual PS3 games and their functionality so much. Home, PS2, PS1, mumbo jumbo and all that jazz.

Just off the top of my head
- Ability to read/reply/send messages to and from friends in game
- Ability to view friends list in game (and see what they're playing etc)
- Private chat support that works regardless of what each person is playing, just like 360
- Support for listening to your own mp3s etc while in game (a la 360)
- Ability to join a friends game straight from the XMB
- Ability to choose XMB background colour or set custom wallpaper like PSP
- More and/or custom avatars (admit, the existing ones are dire)
- Ability to play media (mp3/video etc) from a network share/location and or streaming from a PC
- Better file management (why do I have to put videos in a 'VIDEO' folder etc etc, why can I not just browse the drive)
- Scaling for bluray/dvds to 720p (does not affect me but affects a lot of people I know)
- Better PS2 game emulation. It sucks at the moment and the IQ is terrible

Arf for a min i looked at that list and thaught yes!!!! uber update......

You need to download the "Starter Pack" (Demo) and then download and install the full game (your 100k file).

For Super Rub-a-Dub and Lemmings you need to do this (I think they have updated the instructions on the download page to reflect this, I noticed it on Lemmings yesterday, which I was gonna download).

Hi m8,
Do you have any sources for this? would be interested to see.

Cheers :)

trying to find it fella, but it is in an interview with phil harrison were he says the next big update is going to amend a lot of the problems ps3 owners have had with the xmb, that is access to friends list during gameplay, access to messages during gameplay, jumping into your friends game directly from the list and customisation of the xmb background as these missing features will be implemented before the release of Home, so Home has access to these xmb features. These features were seen in a demonstration of the xmb before the consoles release but they could not be streamlined enough in time before the console came out so they can and have worked, just needing more time for optimisation.

Must be why it dissapeared from the store.

Anyone got a link to the 1.7 download?

Need to download this to my USB stick via my parents because of my slooooow net

It would seem there are some other goodies too ;)

I was just experimenting to see if there are any changes. There appears to have been one to XMB. You can now use the xmb if the browser is open, allowing you to... oh, I dunno... put music on, and listen whilst browsing.
