i can??, well it looks like great piece of kit to me,, my Wii is going to have to go though,, ahh well

Yeap...Had mine since January and it aint missed any beat. :)

Just FYI, all HDMI cables are not the same..

For 1080p, the bandwidth required for the digital signal is very very high.. a lot of cables (not always indicated by price) can be poorly constructed and actually have insufficient bandwidth, the result is sparklies if you are lucky (lots of single colour dots on the screen, some flash, others persist), or simply 'no signal'.. Having gone 1080p lately, I had to replace some of my HDMI cables.. especially those over 1.5m.. I also have had the same problem with DVI cables as well..

I'd recommend using something like a 'molex' branded HDMI or similar, under £10 for 1.5 Metres and of high construction quality..

Stop tempting fate.. like all 'new' technology, it doesn't often pay to be an early adopter. It's been a trend that first gen CD/DVD/HD-DVD and no doubt BR drives have less then stellar lifespans, and teething issues.. :)

I know you're having a dig at MS, and they can't be defended.. if they'd been a year late to market, no doubt things would be different although Sony reliability is difficult to rival!..

Any good??

It all depends on what you call good. From my perspective, it is a good game...It starts of a little bit boring but you will understand why as the game progresses. The opening scene (in game footage) is like a proper war zone - many things happening randomly and simultaneously (only the cell power call pull off such feats). The weapons are excellent and the AI can be quite challenging at times. There movement and behaviour is advanced from what you would normally encounter in a fps game. Control is well laid out and no complex buttons and configuration...also the sixaxis works well - For example, if you are on fire, all you have to do is shake the pad and your player gets rid of the fire by shaking it off or rolling on the floor...how easy is that?

The online mode is good but i havent played it much.

The music is earth shattering and consumes you in to the game if you catch my drif. The replay value is really high because when you finish it, there are new weapons available for you to use all over again. It is also a very long game to finish...I played mine for hours (about 5hours average a day) and i didnt finish it until about a week and some days on top.....Overall, i would give it a 7.9 - 8.0. I hope that helps.

Why? What makes it so special that only the Cell can achieve it? My PC does a fairly good job at having "many things happening randomly and simultaneously", or is the PS3 doing something extra special that I'm unaware of having not played on one yet?

Oh please, i was reffering to the consoles...a pc dont come into that class. Put it this way, you can have about 30 or more activites going on with different in-game physics applying to those activites....Not a lot of console call pull that off as of today.....actually none. Go play RFoM and GoW and you would see what am talkng about.

Well, I've already played GoW... so you're saying it's the same as that?

Im saying it is different and better in the sense that many things can happen on the screen without slow downs or lagg when compared together. On the ps3 you can have (the last count i did on the Rfom) about 23 ai on the screen all shooting at you, your men, laying mines, coming for you etc....I dont remember gow been able to do that from what i have seen.

Can you point me to the 'proof' of this? I' am for debate, and that seems a wild accusation that would certainly upset a few 360 fans..

Wow, that's very generous of you. Giving away a console game to a complete stranger. I'm sure there's a fair few people in London who'll gladly take you up on your offer ;)

Not just the 360 fans ;) I'm all for having a rational debate.

As I own neither a 360 nor a PS3, I'm a neutral bystander.

Im not even lying or trying to stir up a debate. There is a particular section in Rfom where you have to reach the core of the aliens...that is the stage im talking about.
