PS3 UK Demand

Why can't you just be more tolerant to public opinion?

Like anything else when someones paid x amount of money for a product they seem to go all out to defend it against even valid negatives. Ive no problem criticising my ps3, wii or 360, they all have their shortcomings, acting like theyre totally fine and perfect is pretty sad really.

Exactly the debate I was showing we shouldn't be going into.. it's endless and you can't compare like for like..
The only sensible remark I would make is that you don't need any remote to operate the HD-DVD, it can be done from a controller, but since it's in the HD-DVD Pack and it is a feature most people want for their HD-DVD/BR player its included..

As for the rest.. where does it stop..
- PSN != LIVE.. how can I add somethng onto the PS3 to make up for this?
- If I buy a P&C kit for the 360, I'll have the supplied batteries left over, do I add these to the cost of the PS3 to be fair?

Thats why i wouldn't go starting to compare the 2.
But just in response, you don't need a remote to operate BluRay on the PS3? and i have looked at 3 competitors and OCUK neither list a remote with the HD-DVD drive.

And i think Live is a rather substantial cost to ignore. It has cost me 80 quid on the cost of my console so far, and i have only had it 15 months, i see it costing me 160 before the next xbox is out.
And the P&C battery comment is just petty. You are the one trying to bring specs together, so if you add WiFi you should add P&C.
Just trying to show the flaws in some of the logic.

Yeap i am the same as you, but i do have a bit of an issue people trying to criticise either console for no real reason.

I've been uhming and ahin over ordering. I can get PS3 + Motorstorm + Resistance FOM + Additional Sixaxis Controller for £495 delivered. Which is good because i want both games plus the console plus an extra pad is handy....

However, checking the release schedule i'm a little concerned. After the initial launch games are the next releases in July?

Agreed

People take my appreciation for what Microsoft have done as underdogs perhaps as fanboyisim but in a few short years have really changed gaming with some great games and many features.

Credit given were credit due, now in all fairness forgetting Blu Ray capacity and SIX AXIS what have Sony done or brought to the table that redfines or even surpasses what Microsoft have brought to the table?

I also agree that the release sheet for the PS3 is worrying after initial launch with very vague dates/titles possibly appearing this year but then again probably not. vast majority of titles will be multiformat and once again Microsoft as a games developer has even in theior own library franchises got a load full of quality games WE KNOW will appear this year, Sony what have they commited to dates for release this year from their own franchises?

What games have they released so far that take next gen beyond to a new level?

In all fairness, Neither console has done that

Well i put forward GOW for graphics that truly were next gen.
Several games for download content material
PGR3 for Gotham Tv and online tournaments

And upcoming games like Forza 2 that really take racing to a new level and what can be done within the game and online community.

Only suggestions

I will say that GoW is the most over rated game of this gen, totally incomplete with a poor story that makes no sense.

Forza 2 there is a surprise coming from you

And since you are talking about future things so will i. Home.
I'll also put forward 40 man online.

In all fairness 18 months in aren't we into 'next gen'. If it wasn't for Sonys big grand claims for "4D" gaming etc etc people would realise that what we've got: Dead Rising, Zelda: TP, Motorstorm, Gears of War, COD3, Oblivion, Viva Pinata, Test Drive Unlimited, Blue Dragon, Crackdown, VF5 and whats to come with Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, GT5 and Forza 2 etc are great and next gen is alive and kicking now. Sure games will get better, FFXIII will look fantastic as will Halo 3 but I'm confused as to what people expect as "the next level" outside hyperbole.

40 man online was good but how well does it play with 40 people and how many games have you had with 40 in them, just curious?

As for GOW lets say if it appeared on the PS3 everyone would have immediately thought this is awesome graphics. My view is that in graphical terms even compared to the PC at its time it set a new benchmark in art design and graphical immerison.

I suggest you read more about Forza 2 as no game in the history of a console racer will offer what it will offer, if its a success or not is different but again credit should be given to delevlopers that are doing new things not just GT HD visuals or F1 for that matter that seems the same game with updated graphics.

Be fair and answer the questions concerning PS3 releases after launch its a serious point for anyone worried if its going to go a bit dry on the games front like the wii.

This is a thread i have managed to avoid lol
Since you are bringing the 2 specs together, you should add Play and Charge and a Live sub, cos that is also built into the PS3 price. Sure you will get fanboys saying 'Xbox live is so much more than the PS3 online. But it isn't really if all you want to do is play multiplayer online.
Maybe Live should let you play Multiplayer for free, and charge 40 quid for the bells and whistles and we will see who really does think its worth the money ;)

Also why add a remote for the PS3 when you need to add one to the 360 iirc? I thought the remote was limited time only with the HD-DVD drive?

(Remember it isn't me bringing the 2 machines to the same spec)

I have played quite a few 40 man games, majority are in the late 20's and it is lag free.
GoW i will say is pretty, but as 4 million Wii owners will tell you 'I'd rather have a good game than one that looks pretty'

**Yawn** about the forza, you where the same with Forza one. To the brink that you threw a tantrum and left ocuk because of it. Excuse me if i do no see your views of Forsa as unbalanced/

Yeah it is a bit dry until 10 days from now, but then again the 360 wasn't much better at release.

Ive not even tried resistence online yet, single player is a bit meh as well, just feels like your basic run and gun shooter with the added addition of guns that fire through walls and projct sheilds to make the game even easier. =/

Resistance starts to get good after a few hours. It is strange, i didn't like it at first then it sucks you in.

Oh yes we can because missle's can be shot down. :D

Just for the record once again LIVE even if paying full whack is £40 per year.
Why you Sony elect keep hammering at this because lets see how feeble your argument is regards it.

£40 = less than 100 bags of crisps in a year
£40 = less than 50 cans or bottles of coke/pepsi etc per year
£40 = less than 10 magazines in a year
£40 = 77p per week
Gaming as much as you want using the best service currently on the market with free videos demos and download content = PRICELESS

Or at least worth £40 if it really matters...
I agree that £40 a year is great value for Xbox Live Gold... BUT, if you are the kind of gamer like me who only ventures into online play every once in a blue moon, when the mood takes, then it's a complete rip off. My lad plays online against his mates all the time on his 360 and uses the voice chat too, so to him it's great value (especially being as though it's me who ends up paying anyway). My 30 trial of Live expired and I didnt feel compelled to renew as I didnt use it enough. If MS made it so that you get some minimal hours of free play a month with the silver account, say 10 hours or so, then I would be really happy. I got as message from a fellow OcUker last night asking if I fancied a co-op game on Crackdown and I quite fancied it, but I'm not going to pay £40 a year for the very odd occasion this happens.

This interests me, I've played a lot on live and heard lots of talk of how good live is on this very forum. Personally I think it's not all that. I pay £40 for a game service, the demo's, downloads etc are great. The game lobbies are kerrap. PGR3 is the only one so far that I've personally played with a decent lobby system.

Or games like GRAW, 16 player matches blah blah blah.

Who here has ever managed to host a co-op campaign with 6-8 players consistently without half the team dropping as soon as the AI load in. I have 500k upload and the game tells me my max host is 5 players. I reckon you would need a meg and a half atleat upload to host 16 players.

Rather pointless. I'd rather have the PS3 server system if games can actually run to 16 players.

Personally I dont see what all the fuss is about with live, I even preffered the old MS gaming zone lobbies of finding players in rooms you want to play in age of empires 2. Atleast then you couldve named a room, no OTT yanks ;)

I wonder if anyone on here has a connection big enough to host a 12 player GRAW campaign let alone 16.

Jumpers you may not like Forza you may not like GOW but millions of people do, everyone to their own but your disregard for these games does not distract from their popularity or the amount of systems they will sell.

My view is a bit unbalanced perhaps as i really am looking forward to it, but in the view of the whole picture it looks to be an impressive game, even the whole car trading thing is interesting to car nuts no-one can deny from a feature list the game opens new areas only this next gen now allow, im sorry if developers exploiting new ideas bores you.

These are two major NEXT GEN attraction games and i have no doubts that Forza 2 will also go platnium quickly just like GOW did.

Joebob.
I understand what your saying and a lot of people dont really use online that much. Of course you get the other extreme where like your son they are never off it. Still if Microsoft charged a monthly set fee like say Sky packages it would probably end up more expensive.

I suppose you can always keep taking advantage of Free Trials that many new games include, but remember if or when you find that favourite game and meet the right people online for regular playing thats for me where the fun really is online and IS worth 70p per week lets be honest.

So guys what is the BIG PS3 games due this year that are confirmed, enlighten us...
