I can get a brand new PS3 with Motorstorm and HDMI cable, for £340.

Q1. Is this price too good to refuse?

Q2. Is the price of the PS3 looking to drop anytime soon?

Q3. Is a PS3 better then the xbox 360?

Thanks.

PS. Ignore Q3!!!!! :p ;)

Well ask yourself if there are enough games you want out or out in the near future to justify getting one. If not wait for more games yuo want to come out and then get one, when it should be cheaper.

well I paid full price for mine and I couldn't be more pleased with mine. Definitely consider wether the games coming out for the system are games you wanna play. Feature set wise its excellent aswell if these things interest you such as built in wifi, blu ray player, excellent sound playback, user upgradeable storage ( using standard hdd ), hdmi, excellent build quality and reliablity, internet browser etc. If these features don't appeal to you then forget about it but at that price its a bargain

I also paid full price for mine at launch and cant be more happy.

I have 9 games for mine , For AAA games your going to have to wait a while tho!

One thing i like about this console is how quite it is.

I just wish sony would sort out are PSN store and give us more content!

It's attitudes like this I don't understand, you both go on about how good the actual console is, not the games. You can wait 'til the price drops and the machine will still be the same and with better games.

I didnt say to much about the games because there,s not a lot to say about the games that are out atm

RFOM is good but nothing to say wow about same with motorstorm.

Ill have to wait till games like LAIR come out to say anything on the games subject.

But like i said im more than happy with the games i have being this is now my main and only console.

At the moment im playing God of War 2, and Final Fantasy XII on mine. Make of that what you will with regards to PS3 games.

1 - Good Price

2 - Not officially, maybe christmas.

Since that is your 2 questions i wont get into all the other wee arguements this thread is bound to cause (well it has already started) unless you ask directly :)

I've not played a game on mine in around 3 weeks :( The last game I played on it was the PS2's Gran Turismo 3...
I found that once I got over the 'new gadget' excitement I haven't used it at all. Its a good system but there are not any decent games out for it (my opinion) and there is nothing coming out any time soon to look forward to (again my opinion), except GTA4, which I'll pick up on the 360.

They really need to pump more content (demos/trailers) into the PS Store to keep me interested, and at the moment the store is absolute rubbish.

Iv not had this prob with the ps3 but i did with the Wii

Well I have to confess to loving mine!

As you can probably tell from my sig, I've been at heart a PC gamer.

I've been a bit miffed of late with the lack of games that take my fancy on the PC, and those that did, coming out bugged and needing patch after patch to get going properly.

So, I was gunna buy a GeForce 8800GTX, and decided I'd give the PS3 a try instead, thinking I'd get more use out of it than simply upgrading my graphics card, and for about the same money.

Well, about a month in, I'm still seriously impressed with it, moreso than I ever thought I would be.

Sure, I feel sometimes like it was released unfinished. (lol after what I just said about PC games) Two firmware updates recently addressing some of the issues, but I still await the new one... allowing access to the XMB whilst playing, and one day, DVD Upscaling. I look forward to Home finally coming out, in fact, I'm really looking forward to that, it looks great.

Motorstorm is just pure fun as far as I'm concerned. Whenever a few mates come over, and I put that on, it's laughs all around.

F1 CE is simply stunning. It looks great, it plays even better, and the sound? My neighbours must love my 5.1 system when I'm playing that.
Most (99%) of my console gaming friends have Xbox360s, and so far they've all been totally impressed with my PS3, and are talking about getting one now as well.

R:FOM, I was a bit disappointed when I first loaded it, but I gave it a chance, and I'm glad I did, as it is brilliant as you start to progress through it. I'm still awkward as hell using a controller for an FPS game, being used to a mouse and keyboard since playing FPS games that way since Quake II back in '97, but I'm getting through it.

Ridge Racer 7. Well, you know what you're getting from that. A leave your brain at the door, pure arcade experience, which does look stunning at 1080p (and I'm sure at 720p too)

Need for Speed Carbon. Everybody seems to hate this, but I did used to enjoy it on the PC, so thought I'd give the PS3 version a spin. I think it's great!

Call of Duty 3. After reading on these forums about how bad it was, I was a bit concerned loading it up the first time. My first impression was "doesn't look that good" (guess I'm used to PC gaming) but again, after playing into it a bit, in fact it does look good, and is good fun... though again, my FPS on a controller skills are letting me down a little.

As for the rest of the PS3, the Bluray player is great. I know a lot of people say they don't want a bluray player, but if you like movies at all, and have a HDTV, then you will be glad of the bluray player. Stick the Casino Royale in there for example, and get the immediate WOW factor. I won't be buying a DVD again.

The store IS a disappointment at the moment. It can only get better. It's kind of frustrating when you're wanting to buy some new games, but would like to try a demo first, and there's hardly any there. Signing up to the other regions stores is no real hassle, and gives you more, but it's still lacking for now.... though I'm also enjoying some of the retro games available again.

So that's my perspective. The novelty still hasn't worn off, like some others I've not got bored, and not played it... in fact, I don't think I've played a single PC game since I bought it... and I've still got Stalker sitting here beside me, with patch 3 already downloaded, waiting to be installed. I guess if you've already got an XBOX360, then maybe it wouldn't have the same impact on you, but for me, I'd say well worth the money. The new updates are coming making it even better, the store is (apparently) due a decent update soon too, and more good looking games are on the horizon.

There we have it, I've probably come across as being something of a fanboy here, which I am not. I also like the XBOX360, even though I never bought one... I thought Gears of War was outstanding.. and I still have my PC here too.

All in all, PS3, a great piece of kit, which is only getting better with each firmware upate, as they add more features, and iron out any little niggles.... oh yeah, the the integrated web browser works well too, making normal surfing on the TV a reality, saving having to boot the PC up for a quick check of something.

V1N.

No, I am just glad I got my PS3 with Motorstorm/RFOM for free when I bought a 40W2000

I played Motorstorm when I got it but now find it frustrating, RFOM sucks with a controller and the other games don't interest me at all.

Obviously it will get better when more games are released and Sony actually puts more stuff on PSN but for now it's a disappointment for me.

i love mine. looks the biz, games are good but sparse for the time being, plays my bluray films (main reaosn for buying one to be honest) got a 500gb external drive ready for anything i might throw at it. displays pics from my camera's, runs linux, blah blah blah.....

Answer 1. Very good price if this unit is brand new. Im pretty sure if you didn't like it, you could sell on probably for a profit.

Answer 2. How long is a piece of string?

I doubt the PS3 will drop its price anytime before christmas... Some retailers may have special offers though...

I would say, if you're wanting to play blu ray movies on a HDTV then go for it, but if you want to play games on it there's not much point in getting it yet, and by the time it has some really good games to play other than ROFM which i've heard mixed reviews on then it may well be a lot cheaper... Your call, technically its a good price for a blu-ray player if you have a HDTV.

This weekend I watched Casino Royale on Blu Ray to see the difference between SD DVD and BR DVD as I watched Casino Royale on DVD 2 weeks ago.

And TBH I couldn't really see that much difference and I have a 1080p LCD 40W2000, maybe the difference is small in my case as I have my DVD recorder connected with good quality Component leads

Problem with it is currently the only decent exclusives not on other platforms are Motorstorm and Resistance.
So that's 2 games.

Exactly why I sold mine, I'll get another when there are some games I want to play and I'll be able to pick one up a lot cheaper.
