ps4 case modding

isn't the PS4 designed to run 30-40 degrees cooler than the PS3? i'm sure i read that on a blog/site somewhere.

therefore I find it very hard to believe that someone managed to get it even cooler by adding a fan never mind a substantial 20 degrees cooler.

must be one of those 160mm fans or something.

personally if you want peace of mind buy a belkin laptop cooler pad which runs off USB and then plug it into the front port of the PS4 and stick the PS4 on top of the cooling pad.

i'm sure this won't make a huge difference but at least ps4 warranty is safe, etc.

also SOGA covers you for 5-6 years so even if your ps4 is outwith it's 12 months manufacturers warranty the retailer would still cover you for an additional 4-5 years for nothing (so long as you have the receipt/order number, etc and it died from natural causes due to a manufacturing flaw/fault).

the only mod I would want to do to the PS4 case would be to take it all apart and then spray paint it a different colour like white, tbh though you can get vinyl stickers which do the same thing for a few quid so don't see the point.

stock ps4 > invalid warranty

Not with the warranty stickers removed...

not necessarily you could say an electrical engineer removed them to tell you that the ps4 died from a manufacturing flaw ;)

they would then ask to see the report which you could pay an engineer to do for you.

sounds like a plan but, i dont know if it would hold any weight with the case modded to alow for better airflow.

In which case the 'engineer' would have to prove he is qualified :p

Either way, OP, you havnt done anything smart opening your ps4 up. Do you remove your car bonnet to allow for better airflow as your car engine gets hot?

ppl can say what they will on the matter wether positive or negative but , regardless im still going to do the mod. i dont have a car anyway and for the record i wouldnt do that if i did, mayby a bonnet scoop would be in order ... lol

This could get interesting... I'm off to swap all of my warranties for fans.

What happens if during your well thought out modification you then break your PS4?

im not actually touching the fan, im putting a hole in the ps4's outer shell thats directly over/under the internal fans location and fitting an 80mm filter on said location, so instead of the ps4 circulating hotter air, there will be cooler air coming in from outside of it.

i have done fan mods before , 1 on my current ps3 and some to a couple of 360's in the past, i know i have to be cautious.
