I know that but most tv when described just say hdr and rarely say if 10bit or 8bit unless your really into tech you won't look I can imagine most people just buy any set and don't even know if it's true hdr or if they have some gimped form of it
That's why its always best to do your research before buying but let's face it HDR mainstream is many years away anyway few games & movies support it right now! Even the ones that do its hit or miss how good it looks as well. I cannot see HDR taking off anytime soon its too expensive & too niche most people cannot tell the difference between a DVD & Bluray let alone UHD & HDR!

SO really you might be better off getting a cheap 4K TV for the time being so you can at least experience the detail increase from the resolution and then get a HDR TV for the next generation by which time HDR should be bedded in and HDMI 2.1 with Variable Refresh Rate should also be available. You can always go back and replay the games from this period in the future...

True though how people can't tell difference e between dvd and blu ray is baffling when people tell me that I think there blind haha :p

I can somewhat understand blu ray to 4k as there has been some poor transfers, I find Netflix 4k stream isn't as good as a 4kblu ray

No current stream can match the bitrate of Bluray let alone 4K UHD discs so BD & 4K UHD discs are not going away anytime soon but the uptake is always slow on new formats. To those who can see the difference its massive but you need a gigantic screen to see much difference between BD & 4K UHD I am talking about 65" or way higher which is why the 4K UHD format will take a very long time to become mainstream! A well mastered BD can still look incredible on the right equipment & the kind of bandwidth you need to stream 4K is going to take at least 10 years in the UK before its viable so you should have another 10 years minimum of disc formats. 4K HDR games are slightly different as the massive amount of data is stored on the console or PC so can be downloaded over a period of time.

Not sure if i have done the right thing but wanted a display for pc and xbox x HDR gaming so i went with the LG 43UJ750 that AWPC mentioned.

Here is hoping i get a good one and have not made a bad decision also i could not find a input lag figure for this model but i am hopeful its not too high being a 2017 model.

I have the 49inch Samsung Quantum Dot UHD with a PS4 Pro and I love it to bits, so much so I’m getting the Launch Day Scorpio Xbox One X for its 4K HDR playback that the PS4 Pro don’t have.

Sure it will be a great buy as LG are one of the best hope its a good set as I am very close to buying it myself but as I need for PC monitor for web surfing as well as gaming just not sure it will be ok for that so please come back & post your findings!

Unless you pay well over a grand for the latest OLED you have to get an LCD or LED based 4K HDR based model.

Surely it's better to wait for tech black Friday / Xmas sales? I'm not an expert but possibly camping and getting a deal in store during black Friday or inline ?
In demand tech like a proper 4K HDR will not be any cheaper they only dump unwanted stock on those days!

That make sense, but what about some of the better TVs above the LG, that don't sell as well due to its price. They may be reduced to possibly to the price of that LG? so all in all a bargain? Lol idk what im talking about :p

Could you send 2 different TV brands that would be above the LG you linked ?
LG are one of the best brands sub £1K. Above that price point try Panasonic first as they have OLED THX certified models but they are very expensive!

Or Samsung as they have QLED (rival to OLED technology).

You are not going to find many bargains in the next few years they sell as many as they can make at the high end. Your better off with either an LG LED based 4K Multi HDR model (all 3 types of HDR supported) which is only £549.00 its RRP has been reduced from £619 last week. At the high end you will expect to pay well above £2K or look at a front projector from Optoma (but the bulbs need replacing every few thousand hours and they are not cheap!). https://www.optoma.co.uk/projectortechnology/4K_UHD
