PSP or DS (sorry)

legally via the PS3 linkup I beleive.

Other options involving any form of modification etc = not to be discussed on the forums.

There was a time when i would concede that the DS has better games, but now tbh i think those days are gone.
The PSP has some fantastic titles.
Killzone Liberation, SOCOM FTB & FTB 2, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Syphon Filter, GTA:LCS & VCS, Outrun Coast to Coast. And least we forget Lumines!! The full game, not that half baked overpriced xbox live version. :)

Just because a game is 'inovative, and new' doesn't mean its any good.

Look at the games out for them and see, simple as. The PSP also has a free web browser built in, handy if you are in a wi-fi spot and bored. And videos are very good. Personally i would recommend the Sony Media Manager for PSP. Not advertised near enough, but really simple to use. Encodes all you vids as it transfers them, and its quite cheap. Though it should be free.

Just sold my DS for a PSP. Once i had finished the castlevanias, trauma centre, New Mario and Mario Kart, that was it for me. All became a bit stale from then on.

DS, it simply has better games

Super Mario Bros
StarFox
Mario Kart
Metriod Prime
Phoenix Wright
Sonic Rush (best sonic game since the mega drive days!!!)
Trauma Center
Castlevania (not my favorite game but a lot people seem to like it)
Mario 64 DS (tho only get this if you don’t have the n64 version)

That’s the game I own that I would recommend there is still games I don’t own that people highly rate like

Final fantasy 3
Yoshi Island
Elite Beat Agents

And there is still a lot of games i am looking forward too unlike the psp

No-one can tell you what games you will like, so there's no point in even asking questions like this. Have a look at the titles available for each console, and make a decision based on what you prefer to play.
The DS is mainly platformers and puzzle games. The PSP is more about graphics and shooting things.

I'm loving my DS. Don't think a PSP could tempt me away.

As has been said, I think the sales speak for themselves. My sister had a mare getting hold of a DS just lately. Just impossible to find anywhere.

PSP easily, bought a metallic blue PSP off ebay with 1.5 firmware and it's an amazing piece of kit.

You can browse the net on it without any add ons, use emulators, even PS1 games now, watch movies, listen to music, lovely widescreen and great games with almost PS2 graphics.

fixed imo

psp is a far superior piece of hardware to DS imo . just lacks the original games

perhaps I should have put "DS all the way, by far the better console for games at the moment" :p

one game should make this decision pretty easy final fantasy 7! :D PSP for the win! ;)

Try and get a 1.5 and google the things you can do with it, can't be discussed on here though :o

Ah this is simple......

Buy a PSP if you prefer widescreen, better gfx and movies and music and love your PS2..

These are the games to get along with their IGN rating.

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror 9.3
WipEout Pure 9.3
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories 9.2
Tekken: Dark Resurrection 9.2
Ridge Racer Racing 9.1
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 9.0
Lumines II Music 9.0
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories 9.0
Killzone: Liberation 9.0
LocoRoco 9.0
Daxter 9.0
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories 9.0

Or buy a DS if you love your old SNES.. and a big fan of retro. Which I am !!!

And if the sound of these ALL REALLY fun games tickle your fancy.

Elite Beat Agents 9.5
New Super Mario Bros. 9.5
Mario Kart DS 9.5
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow 9.3
Metroid Prime: Hunters 9.0
Tetris DS9.0
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time 9.0
Sonic Rush9.0
Advance Wars: Dual Strike 9.0
Meteos 9.0
Kirby Canvas Curse 9.0

oh no it's not such an easy decision after all !!!

ah what the heck buy BOTH !

ahem... I think this was alread said....

another vote for the DS here... I'm mostly using a homebrew music tracker right now tho! Great fun making tunes on a DS. :) Oh, the games are good aswell.

tbh sony are bang out of order making people rebuy the ps1 games over the sony network on the ps3

i already own many ps1 games and would rather convert them using the "dodgy" software thats about .

sony are actively trying to stop this :/

why should people buy the same games twice :(

It's the same with films... If you want the film in higher quality, you have to re-buy it on blu-ray even when you own the original DVD. Sony really do seem to be the bad guys right now... Hence I went from PS1 to Dreamcast to DS. :)

If i were you, I've keep my PS1 and use that for the PS1 games. I still have the odd bash on tekken 2. :)

Well you could say why should you buy your films again on DVD after your VHS has gone out of date, or buy an album on CD because you dont play your vinyl anymore.?

I think it's a pretty damn good service to release all the PS1 titles for the PSP, Sony didnt have to do it and they only cost a couple of quid so I dont see the problem!!!

Do you really see any company, wether it be Sony , MS or Nintendo endorsing software which you can rip your games to play on another standard?

I don't think it's as easy as one is better than the other, there both great for different reasons. If you can buy both as i did do that. I've had both since their launch days (although i have upgraded my DS to a black DS Light) and my only regret was upgrading the PSP firmware everytime sony released a new one (I so want to play PS1 games on it) :(

I've got both. My PSP hasn't been touched for a while, even with the novelty of being able to play PS1 games on it. I really like GTA VCS, but I can't play it for more than half hour at a time as the crappy little digital pad hurts my thumb after a while.

The DS on the other hand gets played very frequently. The choice is simple really - if you want good games, get a DS. The PSP has some great games, but not enough.

I'm not too fussed by either but I'd say the DS, the PSP just seems to be the same old playstation franchises with an iffy analog stick and long load times.

There's a few gems on the DS, brain training is good fun, Advance wars isn't my cup of tea but I can see why others would love it. Mario Kart, Mario World and Tetris you can't go wrong with.

Its all on the games, nothing to do with graphics for me. I've got a DS, and even my 360 hardly gets a look in, games are just more fun on the DS.
As for PSP, there's not a lot of originality to me, the titles available for it look tired and seen it all before, so i wouldn't consider one personally.

Technically you don't need to but yet again cannot be discussed here. They are just asking for piracy imo, who wants to shell out £400+ to play ps1 games on there psp.
