PSU Noise

Hi guys, today my new Fractal Design Define R3 case came

. The case is really sturdy and very very silent... but now ive gotten rid of a lot of my case fans ive noticed the noise output from my PSU and its very very loud.

I dont know the make so is going to be hard to answer, but its an 850W Modular PSU and i paid quite a bit for it, any ideas on how to dampen the sound of the fan?

Lower the fan voltage maybe? I need a solution or i feel ive wasted my money buying a sound proof case.

What psu is it?

opening the psu casing up to mod the fan is/can be dangerous

so no labels on it at all? which is worrying as all the good brand psu's will be proudly displaying the name and model on them.

As far as i can tell, its make is "AlphaPower"... i paid quite a bit for it though.

sorry, has just done a quick search, and that was the sort of prices coming back.

apart from ocuk own brand rubbish, find me another 850w psu on this website, for £50.

i'm afraid to say you were robbed, i've just found an alpha power 850w sli certified modular psu for £26 new :eek:

i think a new quality psu is in order.

*edit - and according to its specs it only has 1 6pin pcie connector :confused:

LoL you have to pay at least £22.95 for the 850W version.

To OP - ditch it you need to pay 10 times that to say you paid a lot for a PSU.

Most quality PSU with that power range your looking at over the £100 mark.

Wonder if you can RMA the unit and see if you can go with a quality branded unit.

Im gunna have to stick with my noisy PSU then, cant afford a new one.

Quick question, if i drop the voltage of my fan will it affect it in any way.

Are you still running the spec in your sig?

850W is way overkill.
