Pub crawls are to be stopped!

Freedom of speech is still a thing, mostly. So there's no need to get worked up about an article like this. Call things what you like, it's up to you. The name of some things may change over time however it is up to us whether we choose to embrace those or not.

Guessing these prices would be pretty close to what someone would spend on a night out
Not including the price for a single pint

£10 cigs
£8 to get in night club
£20 for cheese & chips & other stuff with it for after nightclub
£20 taxi home

I used to be able to get a carton of 200 Marlboro for £20 back in the day. (Haven't touched a fag in over 10 years now) £2 to get into a nightclub. A couple of quid for the last bus home. The rest went on beer.

There have been quite a few incidents of poor behaviour at CAMRA festivals I’m aware of and this is just one initiative to try and bring things into the 21st century so that everyone feels welcome. My wife is a big real ale/craft beer fan and some of the **** she has had to deal with is totally unacceptable. Without these changes pubs and festivals will die because you simply can’t alienate half of the population (and their partners) and run a viable business these days. But, sure, have a moan about wokeness in an empty pub.

Excuse me young man but when I was a lad, mid seventies, a night out at the pub would have totalled around £2. Night clubs were called discotheques. I'll get me coat.
Early 90's

£10 on the door of the warehouse
£15 for xtc, £5 for lsd
£1 Stella or water
£15 Henry of skunk

I absolutely think all should be welcome, however crap like in the link in OP is totally not the way to go about it. how the hell is a pubcrawl not inclusive anyway?

it's the kind of crap I am reminded of back when I lived in Manchester and the councillor decided to rename the Christmas lights to winter lights because of the non Christian folk. bear in mind all the non Christian parties they have there.......

one of the leaders of the Muslim community came out and was like, don't pin that on us we have no problem with the Christmas lights.......

if they want to make places like beer festivals more welcoming to all they need to crack down on anti social behaviour. that is all.

PS perhaps it is where I have lived but (pre child) I rarely missed a Cambridge beer festival or a Manchester or Chester one that I could get to before then.... and I never once saw any agro, and there were men and women of all flavours there.

Early 90's, without phones, the internet or social media, you had to find out where the hell the warehouse rave or rave in a random field actually was.

I do like a good pint.

Though standing in a circle at a pub with drink in hand isn't my best things. Rather spend the time at home sitting on a comfy chair and watch a film.

in general I am more of a home entertainment drinker as well.... however I do like to go to the odd pub.now and then.... I much prefer an old fashioned country pub however, small with generally an older clientelle or somewhere with a nice open log fire .... when the weather is nice I like to find somewhere with a good beer garden , ideally near a lake or river (reminds me of home where I used to visit the river Dee, weaver or hatchmere lake )

Ban alcohol tbh.
bugger that! no way I am supporting banning something that 95% of adults use responsibly. better to increase the punishment for alcohol related crimes

they tried it in America and all that happened was people broke the law and rich people drank anyway

OK Boomer :D

1998:

£5 for club entry
£3 a pint
£3.50 for a burger (because kebabs are grim)
£5 taxi home

2022 (recent work's Christmas do)

£8 for club entry
£6.50 a pint
£6 for a burger
£10 taxi home

So everything in 2022 is about double of what it was in 1998, which seems fair to me with inflation taken into account.

That was part of the fun :) - the easiest way was to ring the police and pretend to be a concerned parent and they would normally be kind enough to give you the address.
