I have also been punched for no reason in a club in Swansea, fella decked me without warning and once I worked out what had happened he had run out of the club, ran after him and we had a scuffle outside the club when the police turned up. The cops asked if I wanted to press charges and the next thing I know this guy starts crying :confused:. I told the policeman no harm was done apart from a bloody shirt and the guy crying like a baby on front of everyone more than made up for it. :) Even the copper was smiling.

Eliminating the threat before it does further damage.

Or, restraining the threat so it gets more enraged and will end up causing you more damage if you let him go or get worn out by restraining some nutter on your own.

I see your brilliant logic there.

A part of me thinks you shouldn't hit someone when they're down and posing no threat, but another part thinks that this idiot needs to associate getting his ass kicked when he sucker punches someone in the hope he doesn't do it again.

Restrain might have been the wrong word but you know what I mean - stopping him from going further, not stopping him from going further, then holding him down and hitting him back.

Yeah cos hitting a man when he's already down is so much better than stopping him and getting "professionals" (ie the bouncers) to intervine. :rolleyes:

People in this country are too aggressive. I find it terrifying that the story in the OP is nothing shocking, nor even slightly suprising. It's actually very typical for something like that to happen on a night out these days.

don't get what you men, do you mean he should have kept him pinned then yelled for the bouncer, which would have got em both thrown out, and also would be what counts as restraint.

if he thought the guy would hit him if he let him go then he was allowed to punch him to avoid putting himself in further danger.
