Purchased Bioshock through Russian CD key seller....help

longshot if Paypal have declined the refund but try contacting eBay, seriously not as described. If the auction in no way said it was a russian key or you needed a VPN to play, bit of a long shot but worth a try tbh.

And in all fairness... it was £24 on GMG for BS 1,2, infinite and Xcom, £24 for just Infinite now, you still thought that was too much?

Really one of a few games I've bought recently I'd quite happily pay full RRP for, this, tomb raider and Bastion.

A divided community. I've never seen any proof that CJS etc are legit or not legit. Are GMG really legit? Who knows and we will never know but people use them and their keys work. But I bet there has been times when keys from GMG haven't worked for a customer.

Anyway, people will buy from wherever they want. Hence the OPs issue.

Definatley seen the shady side of CJs myself with their whole GW2 keys purchased with stolen CC (according to aNet), widely publicised and CJ's accused me of trying to steal games from them

I didn't use ebay, not sure how that got brought into this.

If I buy another copy say from steam or gmg do I have to remove the other game first?

Not a clue mate, just was reading thread and saw it mentioned lol.
I honestly don't know how you would remove the key other than speaking with steam support.

I fully expect it to say "you laready own this" when you enter a UK key

Its just that you buy a game thats meant for a differnet region thats all.

You need to look into how the grey market works. These are dodgy. It's true that not all games require vpns to play, but every purchase is a risk that at some point down the road, your game will be disabled.

Honestly, I find it hard to understand why people take the risk on, say, on buying a £25 game for £17. If the price was a fiver for a £25 game, I could understand it. That's a risk where you can try 2 or 3 times and still be in the black. But for just a 33% or even 50% reduction? You'll see a sale for that in a matter of weeks usually.

Especially when GMG and others were offering such a good deal with Bioshock infinite anyway. Some people were selling all the games and ending up with a profit.

Even if you just sold Xcom and the other free games you could have Bioshock Infinite for about £12-£14 anyway. I stupidly installed them all thinking they were worthless. It's only when i saw all the copies of Xcom up fopr sale I realised I'd messed up lol.

Nothing wrong with cddiski just buyer error. I mentioned in the safe cd keys site.

I think the clue is in the web address .RU gives away it might be Russian. English sites dont mention vpn just incase someone in Russia buys. Maybe a little more research would have been beneficial... :)

It states on the site -

Region: Россия, Страны СНГ

Pretty sure none of them are UK region.

You biffed up everyone does it. It's not cdiski fault.

Who cares if they are an authorized seller, the actual concept of an authorized seller is illegal

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-sale_doctrine

This isn't about legality (especially when the people buying the keys often know the sources are shady, and many of the keys on the grey market are sourced through fraudulent means) .

The question is, is it safe? Can you be sure that a key you buy through the grey market will be honoured by steam, origin, or whatever other service you use.

To me, the cost saving just isn't worth the risk, when you'll see a similar or greater cost saving pretty soon.

...Everyone knows we are getting ripped off re prices for goods in this country, that why people look else where and good luck to them...

Pretty sure I always remember PC games being circa £30 on release. Think I got the original Tomb Raider for at least £25 in 1996.
So either I cant remember anything (quite possible) or actually we're now just too used to everything being cheap on steam so wont pay the RRP.

The other two games they offered worked fine, Hitman being one of them so this would suggest some keys aren't region locked.

You try and make it sound like it's not your fault. :D

As above when some games work, would that not lead me to believe they are ok to buy from?

They state on the games that are region locked that a vpn is required, this one didn't state that. From this no, it wasn't my error just bad judgement.
