The other week I purchesed a copy of XP OEM from the internet, it was cheap but sometimes it is possible to get a bargain.

when i recieved the item i thought it looked dodgy straight away, the Sticker didnt look real and upon close inspection the disc was a print.

I started a dispute with paypal and got a full refund, i just put the disc to one side and forgot about it, until today when i checked my paypal and had this message.

"Hi, i recently gave you a refund for a windows xp disc, you havn't returned the disc so that i can get a refund of my dropship supplier, send it back or pay, i will contact police! send to ******, You have 5 days til i report you for theft by deception."

do i have to return it?
Am i gonna have to send it via signed for mail so i can prove he recieved it?
why should it cost me money posting when its him selling counterfeit software?

Keep it and reply to him saying that you'll shop him for distributing illegal counterfeit software.

yes you should return it, he should also give you a refund of the postage, but that's not likely.
Are you sure it's a counterfeit. Most of the dell type ones come on a plain disk, not like the Microsoft ones at all.

yep dofo fake the disc had a thin plastic layer on it which when removed pulled most of the copper off.

I just don't want to return it and him say i havent.

Agreed. Send it back recorded - it isn't your property. Beware this isn't a guarantee though (some sellers seem to be able to make things get 'lost' in transit).

I thought PayPal required goods to be returned first anyway. How did you get away with that one?

If you don't got the police with it then you have to send it back or he can get you arrested for theft.

My advice, give it to the police and give them his details and give him the number of the police station you took it to and advise him to speak to PC smith if he wants it back as he has it now.

It's counterfeit, copy it and send him back the copy. :p Then if a new GD post appears saying "I got returned counterfeit software!!" we know who it is.

Upon recieving my copy of OEM XP Pro software I was imidiatelly suspect about the COA sticker, upon closer inspection of the disc it apears to have a clear sticker covering the copper coloured disc, this sticker is easily removeable and the copper comes away with it.

this item is counterfeit and i would like a full refund.
