Purchased Counterfeit Software

It really is that simple, The goods are in effect stolen and the seller can not lay claim to them. I would invite him to get the police involved, If he has made a dropshipping error then that will be apparent.

agreeded. Isnt there a law against "handling stolen items" too?

If it is true that Royal Mail do not accept countefeit goods being sent then you can just tell him that.

Help me out here, didn't want to start a new thread. But could use the opinions.

This is counterfeit right?

Looks OK to me, the key should be inside the packaging under the disc or on one of the cards included inside. MS have those types now that split when you open the disc.

The fact that it is a home burned disk means nothing to its authenticity. If the key is legit then it's fine. You don't think businesses have 5000 copies of a windows disk do you.... however if you checked the key and it was a copy then I wouldn't worry about doing anything about it. Just ignore him and if it comes to it then just threaten him with legal action.

Royal Mail, along with every other mail delivery company in the UK, do not allow illegal items to be sent via their services. As counterfeit software is illegal, you cannot return it.

Indeed. Personally, I would hand it into the police, if only so they can destroy it.

lul whuuuut?

All this fuss over an XP disc?!

Does ANYone even pay for XP anymore? And by ANYone I mean even businesses.

This is lol worthy it really is. Its a 10yr old OS worth what.... £10-£15 and you are thinking of wasting Police time with it?

MANY businesses still operate all of their workstations on XP, and also pay for it.

OP: Just send it back. If you don't want to pay for Recorded Delivery, get a Certificate of Postage. These are free.

Aren't you supposed to sell OEM stuff only accompanied with a mobo or something? I thought that it was illegal to sell OEM cd/dvds alone.
