You don't have to be a military strategic genius to outline the basic ethical components for the justification of retaliation as a concept and the potential of such as a deterrent ... tbh usage is more tactics than strategy anyway.

Think I'd go with option 4 as ultimately there will likely little comeback by that point if the orders were ignored or acted on in a different manner and potentially the situation could be very different or more uncertain than static written orders could accommodate for but with an emphasis on striking as crippling a blow against the aggressor's military capabilities as possible. (amongst other things to maximise the chance of survival for anyone left).
 
I always like to check GD to see how messed up people are. Read that TM comment on the news and just had to...

I recall having a public vote on the stability of the UK and everyone who deals with us fairly recently.

The joys of political leadership which manage to pass the buck so hard it ends up with the last people who ought to be making the decision.
 
id have them fire a nuke at every known nuclear reactor and nuclear waste storage facility

A lot of logic in this line of thought and hence I agree.

My concern is tho with technology that hasnt been tested for decades due to testing ban as well as the leaks from that rogue guy who went to the press is would the retaliation even work?
 
I want to know what the impact of Scotland's independence referendum take 2 will be on the Trident programme, since this time they'll surely vote for independence.

There was a lot of wishful thinking behind that first independence vote.

Scotland will have to find its own money and apply to the EU in its own right (if that's the aim).

Oil money is fantasy, Scotlands finances are worse than than Englands and its a long road to apply to the EU (which won't have the rest of the UK in it).

Not to mention suspicions of changing status quo will be high after the huge piles of BS that whimsical voters went by in the EU vote.
