this wouldnt make sense but if this tunnel was at one of the poles both could be heading the same direction and be heading the opposite direction on a compass

Nope ;)

FC1983 got it right. Both trains passed through the tunnel on the same tracks and in opposing directions on the same day but at different times one at 9.30 the other at 10...

:D

Cousin?

What about the ones facing east and west?

And polar bears have translucent fur noob

On the north pole all directions face south and as regards a polar bears colour it may be translucent but every polar bear I have ever seen appears white to my eye...

What colour are the polar bears you have seen?

Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?

My Dad asked my son this recently onlt to be met with a big  and to be told "We don't do pounds at school as they are old fashioned, we only do kilos"

trust me they both weigh a pound but are not the same weight

edit as daft as that sounds

Feathers then because they take up more space.

EDIT:

Hmm, a bit of research shows that feathers, etc., are measured in the avoirdupois pound which is 16 ounces and the gold and precious metals are measured in the troy pound which is 12 ounces.

That is more of a trick question and impossible to answer if you were not aware of the difference in conversion.

So the answer is feathers but it's because of the difference in conversion.

nail on head

One pound of feathers is more than one pound of gold because the "pound" unit is different. The most commonly used system of weights in the US and Great Britain is the avoirdupois system, where 1 pound = 16 ounces. This is used for most solid objects, except for precious metals and gems; gold is weighed by a special system, called the troy system, where one troy pound = 12 troy ounces. Where one avoirdupois ounce is 28.35 grams, one troy ounce is about 31.10 grams. To convert from avoirdupois pounds to troy pounds, multiply the first by 1.2152 to get its equivalent in troy measurement. Therefore, one "pound" of feathers in troy weight is actually 1.2152 pounds (one avoirdupois pound), compared to one troy pound of gold.
