Yeah get the non guaranteed one bought on special. You won't regret it :D

I went fot the IP35pro as my choice but ocuk (and I hate saying it) isn;t the cheapest around for it. Since Abit just launched the ip35pro xe, most retailers have dropped the price of the ip35pro by £20. I picked mine up brand new for £80 + delivery.

Either board is good but the pro will save you £50 so take your choices.

And yeah, your ram will be fine.

Theres 2 there now, the one on special is the retail version, 3 quid more than OEM.

OEM Vs. Retail

OEM you get the intel fan is it? or the other way round? Retail you get the 3 year warranty opposed to the 1 for oem..That the only difference between the 2?

Don't know why but I'd go for the retail.. I guess it helps the resale value.

The warranty would be lost by me lapping it and I'd never use the stock hsf so the extra stuff is a bit worthless but for £3 for the full package you'll definitely get that back when its time to sell.

Plus I guess sometimes the stock hsf can be handy for setting up, especially if you're watercooling and something refuses to work.

retail u get the fan, not oem...

as for warranty it doesn't really matter because once u overclock the cpu the warranty as gone really. but uselly they still replace it if it fails..

Does it say the VID on the box of chips? So if you go to a shop with it on the shelf, you can find the lowest? :D

After five months of messing with mine, I finally got it Prime stable @3600, nice RAM timings and idles at around 38 (although when it's hot it can idle at 44) never gets above 63.

Best thing to do is ask the store manager to line up all the Q6600s he has on the counter then take picture of the labels of all of them (FPO etc ...)
Go home and google those numbers, it's not guarantee you will get a good clocker but will give you some kind of indication.
I think the older the manufacturing date, the better. A lot of the newly made Q6600s are pants.:o

I tried that at ocuk when there were some excellent stepping AMD X2 3800s knocking about, they looked at me like I was a leper.
