Just a very quick question, my new Q9550 has arrived this morning and was wondering if people could tell me what stepping it is.
Code is L832B390
Production date 19/01/09

If you are needing any other numbers then let me know :)

Edit, also, anyone know of a database of different Quad overclocks and settings?, thanks

Hi you need to look at chip and read the middle line and will probably say SLB8V if so then it means its E0 stepping but beyond that you will have ask someone else 'cause that's all i know, but im sure someone around here will be able to give you a lot more info.

Well I'm using a EvGA 780i and a Noctua NH-U12P (with 2 P12 fans), so would hope so!!
Good to hear I can hit near my target though :)

i'm positive i could hit more but because its summer (maybe not this week) i'm going to leave it at 3.5ghz but i'm pretty happy with that. its nice and fast, did prime for about 6 or 7 hours and did 3dmarks and played games to make sure it was ok

Did you get it from OCUK or a competitor?

Cheers,

J

I think that mine's a C1 too but it does do 3.4ghz on stock volts so I reckon it would probably do 3.8-4ghz.

It does however run a little hot. 61c on 100% load on all cores although I reckon it would be ok to run it faster, and hotter, but I'm not sure that I want to dump the extra heat into my loop.

Via another site, but only before it came with Empire:Total War, that saved my sister £25. Other than that, the price was about the same.
Apart from that order I've always ordered voa OcUK, but I'm still paying for postage :(

Most of the Q9550's bought here seem to be the E0 stepping versions. I've noticed there's been no OEM stock for a while though?

Wonder if they will get these back in at some point?

I got mine from here and its a c1 stepping chip. got it up to 3.6ghz with the spec in my sig. cant push it to 3.8 without it failing within 5 mins of starting stress test. tempted to pump it up to 4ghz to see if i can manage that cos I have a feeling theres a multiplier on my ram possibly thats causing the fail

I did a bit of tweaking with my C1 chip last night. :)

3.8Ghz with 1.28vcore from a C1 stepping is pretty pleasing. Lots of people around are needing 1.35-1.4v to get there with these. It's just a shame that my cooling can't handle the temps for 24/7 use. I'm getting near to 80c in IBT unfortunately. I'm going to stick with 3.6Ghz for now as that only needs 1.24vcore.

jbloggs, what temps are you getting at 4ghz?

I have a C1 (Q9550) @4.0GHz on an Asus P5Q Deluxe, with 1.35v in BIOS, using a Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120mm cooler.
Thats a good oc, im using an EO stepping in a p5q deluxe, so far im only running at 3.4ghz on stock volts of 1.200.

I've just ran the intel burn test and discovered my system isn't stable :(

Prime95 ran ok and nothing failed so I think I've made a booboo somewhere.
