The title is Lewis's now IMO. The car is rapid and so are the last remaining tracks.

They're not rapid in the same way though. Is the Merc as good as the RB in long fast corners? Earlier in the season due to the higher rake and design of the car RB was able to run a fair bit less downforce than Merc and was faster in a straight line. The Honda engine is said not to degrade rapidly like the Merc one too. Lusail seems like a high downforce track so I guess we'll see how things pan out.

I think the only way Ham wins it now is if Bottas steps up his game and takes a win or a 2nd away from Verstappen. That or if Ham gets his elbows out because I think Verstappen is only gonna get more desperate the closer he gets to touching that trophy.

I think saying the title is decided on either side is way too premature, and I was guilty of it last time out at Brazil... I thought based on previous years the RB would win easily and it'd all be over, but obviously I was wrong :p

Hamilton does have the harder task though, he basically needs to win all 3. One win from Max, or a DNF from either (or both, looking at Max...), and it's all over.

Thanks Shimmy :)

110% this, Bottas needs to take points away from Max not let him grab more, but the same goes for the team strategy which has been shocking in recent races. As for the desperation, I honestly think given the chance running his competitor of the road would be firmly up there in the best options in order to secure the title. Would be a real shame if it all comes down to the last race and that does occur and I'd expect there to be some sort of penalty or disqualification for either driver if they caused it.

Didn't Bottas lose nearly 2 seconds letting Lewis through last race as it he specifically told to do at a certain corner (Turn 1 IIRC). That could have been the difference between him finishing third or pressuring Max and getting DRS.

As for Max deliberately taking a competitor out. I can't see it. It think he is selfish and often unwilling to yield and fight another day, I can't see a deliberate move to take both cars out. I just don't think the title is that important to him. He just wants to win races.

Monza defo felt like a ‘I’m getting by or none of us are’ though.

Verstappen would 100% take Hamilton out if he thought he could get away with it. The incident in the last race shows us that. He won't just ram him, he will just put himself and Lewis into a situation were there is likely to be only one outcome.

And if it doesn't work for him, the stewards will just give Lewis a penalty. Again.

I think Merc should not replace the engine and try to aim to get Hamilton on pole. Even with the slight deg on the engine since the last race it should still be fresh and fast and reliable enough. I think if they can get pole, Hamilton can aim to pull away and stay out of trouble hopefully not having to engage with Max at all. The problem with starting 5 places back with an amazing engine and low drag is you still have to overtake fast cars, which leaves you open to having an incident and being taking out with a DNF, especially on lap 1.
The other thing is that Redbull may still have to take an engine swap themselves or expect Lewis to so may take one, further meaning Lewis could just aim to get pole and pull away in the race.
The problem for Merc will be whether they can actually even get pole. The track still needs a car with good downforce for everything other than the straight.

Doesn't mcalrens car have the it on the rear quarter?

Doesn't look like they're running that livery here.

I half expected Stroll to at least match Vettel this year but I think he's been shown up as the fairly average driver that he is

I've long been a defender of Stroll, ever since that brilliant drive in Baku in his first year, but I think he's really disappointed this season. Last season I thought might be his breakout year, with a really strong first half, a couple of podiums, and a brilliant pole. Seemed like all he needed to do was tighten up his consistency, and improve on his qualifying. This season he seems to have gone backwards.

Oof looks like Lando just annihilated the bottom of his car on those raised kerbs

Can see that playing a role in the race, a small mistake or incident there could ruin someone's Sunday.
