Quake champions

Hopefully they will keep the weapon balancing of earlier games, particularly Q3 which I felt was just right in terms of damage. If its anything like QL then im probably out.

In terms of movement I thought vanilla q3 was good but OSP CTF and CPMA were also good in their own right. Personally I spent most of my time on vanilla Q3 FFA or the threewave capturestrike mod.

If the maps are well thought out and compliment the movement / physics it could be a blast.

Will keep an eye on this. Im not doing much PC gaming atm and havent since late 2014, but would return for this if it stays true to Quake overall. Still got my gaming rig I can blow the dust off. Might have to upgrade my R9 290 though!! :p

OSP had it dead to rights IMO (and you could enable the fixed client update rate that mitigated the magic fps physics thing without penalising people for having good rigs :D) - I was never a fan of CPMA though I can see why some liked it - felt like it took out some of the organic fluidity of the original movement.

Saw that the other day - IIRC though wasn't CTF (Threewave) a mod to the main game in Quake 2 anyhow? and there were like 3 grapple mods (one something I made - though it was a bit different) and a full Threewave like conversion for Quake 3 available right after Quake 3 released.

Yeah 3wave did a lot of stuff. In Q3 there were several game modes to the mod but the one with the grapple was called CCTF (classic capture the flag).

CTFS (capturestrike) was by far the most popular though. Start with all weps and when you die you have to wait till next round starts to play again. Also had fast wep changes for those lg to rail moments!!

Ahhhh the memories of Jolt leagues and Savage lans. :p

Oh just remembered there was actually a grapple weapon model (untextured and only about 10% of the coding done required) shipped with Quake 3 - found a screenshot of my first attempt at getting it to work:
