Quake champions

Oh just remembered there was actually a grapple weapon model (untextured and only about 10% of the coding done required) shipped with Quake 3 - found a screenshot of my first attempt at getting it to work:

Pretty sure there was an md5 for some kind of big nailgun too if memory serves me correct. There might have even been textures too. Also not implemented in the game.

Think you are getting mixed up with the desecrator? that was shipped unused in Quake 2.

I think there was code for a nailgun in Quake 3 unused but not 100% on that.

EDIT: Was the Disintegrator that was unused in Quake 2 - basically another variant of the BFG.

I really miss those days of Quake 3 Fortress.

I had a riva tnt 2 too!! :p

Upgraded to a geforce 2 mx 400. Then a geforce 3 then 4. Then I got a big daddy - ati 9700 pro. Melted after 6 months :(

Similar upgrade path here - Elsa Gladiac GF2, Creative 3D Blaster! GeForce 3 Ti 200* but then skipped the 4 series and most of the 5 as they were rubbish til the 5900XT.

* Earned the silly name TBH as the memory overclocked by 50% which made a huge difference to performance and kept me going through the 4 series.

Yup q3fortress and q3 weapons factory, both great mods.

Lpb Snipers were a right pain in the ass trying to conc jump. You exploded mid air half way across the map. If they didn't get you in the air, by the time they shot you and took so much health out of you... You died from landing.

How did it melt? 9700 Pro. The time ATi really blew NVIDIA away.

Didnt literally melt. That might have been a slight exaggeration! :p

Something blew on the main card and I got a screen with green lines all across it then it stopped working altogether. Was gutted.

Eventually got 9800 pro and then I ran on a geforce 8800 gts (640mb) for a good few years. That card was brilliant. Ran it till 2011ish when I got an amd 6780 or something like that.

Then the r9 290. Havent had that many gpu's really.

I was always too much of a TFC nerd to get into Q3F (big up the Wireplay massive!!), but have always loved that q3f video. So good, and the music really works. In fact I cannot listen to Wait And Bleed by the slipnits or Cosmic Castaway without getting nostalgic lol.

ps - just noticed a typo in the credits to the vid.. "Wait and Blee". The things you notice!! :p

You missed such good times with Q3F. It was so fast, sometimes spammy. Soldier duels were fun. Pub and clan games were fun from time to time.
