Quake (enhanced) 2021

Although an excellent new episode, I'm finding the performance quite ropey. Not enough to ruin the experience but the frames are yo-yoing all over the place.

Is Quake MegaTF wtill a thing?
MegaTF was to this day, the best multiplayer I've ever experienced. I made my own .cfg files, complete with an on-screen menu for changing disguises as a spy. I was in America then and played on biscuitservers a lot in clan [TSFO]. I wish I could find an experience like that again; the closest I came to it was playing Enemy Territory.

Has anyone tried co-op yet? Wondering how that performs.

I've been playing Yquake 2 mod (only visual tweaks), with the expansion packs as i never played them "back then". So the new Quake update is great to see.

So far 1440p with 3070FE it has been silky smooth - I have seen some reports of performance issues with Windows 10 with it though especially with overlays.

I guess it could be the OS. I tried disabling software like Afterburner but still the same result. Every other game in the enhanced version runs beautifully, so it's a little odd.

Anyway, no matter now as I've completed the machine episode. I thought it was very good.

I know it isn't classic nightmare but I dunno why so many people are complaining about the lower health in nightmare mode with the remaster - it keeps you on your toes - sure more advanced AI would be nice for nightmare mode but still.

Does renaming the exe still improve image quality and lower FPS on AMD, just like the original?

The "quack" scandal was quite big news back then!

I've not heard about this before. Was there much of an IQ difference?

I seem to recall that renaming the executable on Doom 3 was sometimes needed to get mods working when using ATi/AMD hardware.

Anyone getting frame rate issues? No matter what, windowed, borderless, 120hz, unlimited I get slight stutter now and again even though frame rate on afterburner stayed solid. If I press escape to the menu and back again it's fine again for a minute or so. Really strange as it's really smooth otherwise. Feels like a slight sync, refresh rate issue. Win 10 with a 3080ti.

Only when playing the new episode, dimension of the machine.

Only time I've had problems like that was when I tried to record some video while playing - as soon as I did it started slightly stuttering and continued to slightly stutter, even after I stopped recording, until I restarted. I also had it crash once resulting in the whole machine running stuttery until I rebooted.

Most of the time though it plays very smoothly for me even on the new episode.

You aren't alone in complaining about it - I'll try and give it a whirl on a couple of my Windows 10 setups later as it seems to be reported more as an issue on 10 than 7.

I appreciate appreciate this is the PC forum but I'm sure many of you have this in pc and console.

Anyone know of a way to enable console on console?

Want to disable the terrible crt filter. Can't seem to find a way.
