A Queen Consort is obviously different to a Queen Regnant (or other types of Queen) but to me is 'a queen' nonetheless.
They're very different. The police and armed forces for example swear their oath only to the King/Queen. Not their spouses.

*sigh*prince philip could have been king consort if the royals had wanted him to be and he would have worn a crown
Yes, different but still 'a queen'. Just a different type of queen to the one we've been used to for so long. They're very different. The police and armed forces for example swear their oath only to the King/Queen. Not their spouses.

Why do we call him King Edward VIII when he abidicated and gave up his title ?When King Edward VIII abdicated on 11 December the same year

Good job the funeral wasn’t in 37c heatWhen they were sweating in Westminster Abbey you could really see how hard that was for them.
We're back to the fabulous Elton John again here.
But he gave it up, so he shouldn't be called King, because he's not a King, he's just Edward formerly known as King VIIIBecause that was still his royal title.
Queen Regnant, Queen Consort, Queen Dowager, Queen Regent (and perhaps also Queen Mother) are, AFAIK, all recognised types of queen in the British royal system.
I'm not sure why people have latched onto the idea that not all of them are queens. Not 'The Queen', sure, but they're all still 'a queen' and titled as such.

Absolutely agree but that difference doesn't make them not queens at all, it makes them a different type of queen. They are all very very different. That difference is very important.
Lucky with the weather today perfect conditions....at one point got thinking "glad not raining" as various military layed flags down on the floor in honour of the Queens coffin passing.Good job the funeral wasn’t in 37c heat
