Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Top blokes. I was a pallbearer for my fathers coffin and boy when I tell you those things weigh A TONNE. I couldn't imagine one weighing as much as the Queen's. My brother actually went down the night before to check the handles on my dad's as he was so nervous they'd snap off (plastic IIRC). Really hurt my hands. Took my mind off the whole dad being dead for a bit tho.

Edit: My 2 y/o was a bit confused why I had the telly on all day and eventually I had to say "the queens in the box". She was quite content with this, and kept repeating the Queen's in the box!

She asked yesterday after all the images of the Queen scrolling by where the king was. I didn't want to get into the whole Prince Phillip discussion then realised, it's Charles!

Fingers crossed he packs it in after 2 years. We need William.

It didn’t break down , nor did the Range Rovers, miracles happen…..
I was surprised the met were driving a Range too. Must be in the shop more than on the street.

Talking of the Jag hearse, my boss said to look it up as it's a 2010 that has been customised. The Express article states the hood ornament was replaced from the Spirit of Ecstasy to George slaying the dragon. I think they confused the leaper for the Spirit of Ecstasy

Elizabeth II is the 11th former monarch to be buried in the chapel in Windsor Castle. She will be buried alongside her father King George VI, the Queen Mother and her sister Margaret.

Her late husband, Prince Philip, will have his coffin moved to join her, after his death and burial last year.”

So is Philipa coffin actually buried or is he just being stored in a room somewhere?

kings consort 64K so (from wiki) is she going to be crowned sitting on an adjacent chair at the coronation

but I came across some information that stated the queens company are the tallest guys in the grenadier guards with a minimum height of 6FT
If you saw Lizzies heals, she could have been auditioning for a future job.
(why were boris&cameron held back at church entrance too .. concern that Boris was hungover ?)

I think the St Edwards Crown is only used at a coronation. Other times the monarch uses the imperial state crown.

Imperial state crown was the one on top of the coffin and the one that she was wearing for her coronation portrait stones include St. Edward the Confessor's sapphire and the Black Prince's ruby, the Cullinan II diamond and is literally priceless

Yeah buried is not quite the right word for what happens to their coffins but still keeps being used on the news.

A coffin buried in soil will completely break down after a few decades maybe, and the occupant would be worm food. Those coffins could survive for hundreds of years. Maybe they don't care but, I dunno, must be strange feeling maybe, knowing your body will be kind of still in one sort of piece not gone to nothing?

Never thought I'd ever read a Cosmo article in my life, let a lone one that ends a couple of sentences with at least 7 exclamation marks.
Outside of this sub-forum they appear to be one of only a few places that give a ****
I don't think anybody has claimed it isn't a lesser title? A Queen Consort is still a recognised queen, regardless of being a lesser status than a Queen Regnant. That doesn't make them not a queen at all.

I didn't say you did in fact I said "indeed" indicating you had a point. I picked up on your point and clarified it because I felt you were underplaying the fact that Camilla will never have any real authority.

Yes she is still called a Queen but, let's be honest, it's an all but meaningless title and literally has no power attached to it whatsoever and she may progress to be a Queen Dowager as and when Charles dies but that will also be meaningless.

It's not just that it is a lesser title it's glorified BS.
