Quest 3 owners etc

3 more sleeps till @Ravenger and I have to put up with depth sensor this, depth sensor that ;)
Nah, we won't, we'll be too busy reading messages on our phones through the 4x better passthrough. Oh, and hopefully soon waving and moving with our full body tracking.

You guys can stay in the corner, in the dark with your local dimming :D

Turns out the free AW2 game offer is until January, no need to pre-order.

However, I've seen it suggested that pre-ordering the q3, is a pre-order of AW2, and pre-ordering AW2, comes with other bonuses (not sure what).

I know it’s a new headset so we don’t know everything but for someone new to VR what PCVR/Quest games would be a must have to get for the new headset? Also, what are some good games to get your VR let’s under you so to speak. Thanks

Pretty much anything through the oculus store will have referrals available, but I don't believe beat saber does. Come along and try our social nights if you fancy on Monday evenings, normally we play walkabout, it's a good laugh, generally 6-8 people now!

Real VR fishing is a lot of relaxing fun. I enjoy After the Fall (standalone and pcvr) for a squad based zombie killer. In Death Unchained (standalone) is a really nice bow roguelike.

Breachers i a standalone Rainbow 6. Really well done, but high skill levels can make it tough to get into a game at times!

When I got the 2 from Meta, estimate delivery from Yodel was a couple of days after release, but then it turned up on release day, so you have a chance.

Mary Berry still telling me it's being packed and nothing more.

Been watching some of the Reviews. Norm's over on Tested, the one Shi posted earlier and a few others. It's great to see that the thorough reviews are better than the initial reviews. The only real disappointment that I have seen in the reviews is the lack of a kill MR app at launch, actually the lack of any new games that really show off the Quest 3. Proper MR apps won't arrive until Meta finish developing the software for their depth sensor. It's going to be like the Quest 2 with stuff been developed and added throughout it's life.

Don't want to get bogged down in that though. At the moment the headset is looking like a great update over the Quest 2 and it's going to get better and better as time goes on.

So far most the negatives seem to be things that can be solved in time. The occlusion, the waviness, more mixed reality stuff etc. Not too much on the hardware side.

Royal mail have just emailed me saying it should be coming tomorrow :D.

I'm wondering, if I set up an account under my mums name/phone in theory I could refer her? Since I can't use a referral myself as I already have an account.

Mine is apparently on it's way to DPD. Shame I've got such a busy day already lined up for tomorrow.

So this referral business works on a new headset even if you keep the same Meta account? Due to forum rules are people just swapping links by personal message now? If so, I'm happy to do so. Of course needs to be with someone who is not already using a referral for their Q3.
I don't think it works on old accounts. Could be wrong, someone want to try?

Someone send me a code and i'll try it.

I've PM'd.

Somebody wants to turn on their shiny new toy.

Don't have mine yet, but want to know if I should bother using a referral code or not worry about it once I get it. If it makes a difference, I'll not be turning it on for a day or two probably, since I have someone I need to get the referral off.

Can someone who has activated their Quest 3 please send a a referral link?

I think it's just a quest 2 referral that gets sent if you haven't already set up on Quest 3.

I sent you my referral, there's absolutely nothing to identify it as a q2 referral though. I guess it's an idea however, worth trying!

My two Quest 3's are supposed to be delivered at 4.30 today according to the text I just got. Someone said that you get Asgards Wrath 1 as well? How does that come, is it a code or something because I already have Asgards Wrath 1 so maybe if its a code I can gift the free one away to someone

It comes with a pre-order of AW2, so I'd say check that promotion to see how you collect that, since apparently by pre-ordering the q3 you have technically pre-ordered aw2 and should be entitled to the bonuses. AW2 comes with activation in the headset though, so I suspect it won't come as a code. If it does, I'll have a spare copy too.

As I feared, my face doesn't perfectly fit with my IPD, however, due to the lenses, my nose gets in the way a bit, it makes very little difference, since I can just open it up a little, some more adjustment on where it sits will help too I'm sure. It certainly seemed fine on a quick play.

It's clearly a lot slimmer, which helps the weight distribution immensely. I've attached the skullcap attachment I had on my q2 strap just fine, and have the elasticated powerbank holder on there too. Lovely.

Walkabout golf, I can now look out the corner of my eye and see the hole! Really nice FOV improvement.

Passthrough is interesting. It's obviously not perfect, but I could read my phone fairly well. However, playing the little MR game on the intro, you don't notice the quality, it just works because you're into it. Playing in an awkward space, but it was great to see them appearing from different places, climbing on furniture, going behind things as well. It'll probably be mini games, but there's a ton of fun mini games to be had with that!

Mine is charging. I haven't switched it on yet but I have tried the headset on for fit. It's not quite as comfy with glasses on as I thought it might be as I can feel slight pressure on the left side of my glasses frame and I've pulled the cushion all the way out to the fourth notch. I guess it's ok but after a little play I'll be able to tell if I need to order prescription lenses. There's quite a gap at the bottom of the nose channel allowing light in and letting me see my hands, is it meant to be like that? I thought it would be light sealed.

The gap is normal, if you're on the biggest eye relief it'll be a bit bigger. You won't notice if you're playing unless you really keep looking for it.

Passthrough is just fine when actually playing something, as it's not the primary focus.

I missed a few notes on beat saber, but nothing more than I'd expect in q2, I tend to just blame myself when I thought I hit it but really I missed. Play on expert+ only.

Tried a couple of pistol whip runs and immediately broke my high score on a level, felt much more accurate.

The little plastic skull cap I got for my q2 does the job nicely for the Q3, the change in the top strap has meant I can't attach it to that one, but there really wasn't any need to regardless.

Used the elasticated power bank holder on the back too, though it really doesn't seem to need the counter balance.
