A further update. I had a call back from the rep I spoke to earlier, which isn't particularly unexpected as I raised a complaint about their (complete failure of) customer service. She asked if I'd had a letter in the post. I haven't, which she seemed mildly surprised at as it was supposedly sent after they tried to call me on Monday (or that's her/her manager's story). She's sending another letter and, when it arrives, I need to call them and reactivate my account is what I think she said and then I will be able to place the order again.
I asked about the £100 welcome voucher and she didn't completely confirm it but it sounds like I might still be able to use it. We shall see. If I don't get it then I won't be ordering from them obviously but, much as I detest their abysmal service so far, it'd be silly to not avail myself of it if offered. She asked if she could close my complaint and I said "yes, when you've confirmed my order at the price that was originally agreed".
I'm still curious why I failed a credit check as I've only ever once been late paying a bill and that was in the early 90's when I lost a job.
