Queue jumper?

Yes I am totally in capable of reading the highway code clearly, I would have thought the highway code would promote fluid merging gradually up to the obstruction rather than everyone speeding up to the closed lane bottlenecking then trying to push in, clearly thats a stupid idea??

Picture lane 1 and 2 full to the brim whilst lane 3 full of idiots pushing in at the last minute when they should've stayed in lane or got back into lane 2 about 4 miles up the road.

That annoys me too but I wouldnt dream of trying to block anyone in that sort of situation

No, that just leaves a load of tarmac pointlessly empty. Think about it, if we were all supposed to merge 600 yards before the roadworks, wouldn't they put the cones there?

The only bottlenecking is caused by people like you not letting people merge in turn like they're supposed to.

Your supposed to use all the available lanes up until the point of obstruction, at which point you merge in turn. Everyone lets one person in. Nice and easy, no problems.

ok so I clearly fail. you guys win or whatever

But that actually WOULD be an understandable thing to do. Blocking people who are trying to merge in turn is retarded and drives me up the ****ing wall, people who would try to get from lane 3 to lane 2 in that picture are obnoxious ********* who I hope catch fire.

Yea but its at a fair speed usually which has a pretty high chance of causing accidents, which is something I dont need :D

Thats not quite true, bottlenecks are caused equally much by **** holes jamming in at the last second causing everyone to brake sharply.

Indeed. I'm courteous, I'll stop and let anyone get through but when it comes to blatant dangerous queue jumping, I can't stand it.

Same thing applies to your original post before the edit, why leave 200 yards empty? Why are the cones 200 yards further up if they want you to merge then?

Theres a point at hand, and I must be right in that thread as theres now signs coming up to those roadworks saying USE BOTH LANES and then MERGE IN TURN when you get to the obstruction.

You wouldnt have 200 yards empty... the cones begin to encroach on the road at around 200 yards sort of to say "YOU SHOULD BE IN THE OTHER LANE" I know you guys think you are right but I am pretty sure gradual merging would promote a much smoother flow of traffic than everyone waiting till the last moment, infact I KNOW it does I drive 60 thousand miles a year and see it more than a few times every weekday

Fox why are you like this on this forum, the fella didnt attack you.

So you park yourself in the outside lane to 'reduce accidents'?

Seriously why don't they IQ test van drivers :(

What are you on about  been at the booze at all ? when did I say I park myself in the outside lane?

No but it seems every time he drives his van he puts peoples lives at risk by pulling out to block lanes he doesn't beleive people should use. People like him are enormously frustrating not to mention dangerous.

oh for god sake fox seriously get of your high horse "I put peoples life at risk" I have blocked people once or twice very briefly and never not let anyone in, if you think everyone should honestly drive right up to the point where the lane closes before even thinking about merging theres something wrong with you, its like saying if there are two lanes coming up to a roundabout you shouldnt even think about changing lanes right until the last second ??

You need to learn the high way code and stop blocking up the roads. You are the muppets, not the "Queue jumpers". It's all the people like you who que who cause the massive pointless traffic jams. By blocking of junctions behind you.
Merge when instructed to do so.

A 1 mile que would be drastically shortened if you used all available lanes and such you wouldn't pointless and needlessness bock junctions behind you. Meaning people who want to go in other directions can.

What Rich is trying to get across and so is the OP is people that go flying down the closing lane (or pull out from the slower moving lane) and barge their way in, not the people that drive sensibly down and wait their turn.

haha I love this :p because a few times I have stopped people from pushing in in front of me I block entire junctions up and cause massive queues, its obvious that I must be wrong and pushing in at the last minute must be the correct way to do it so I'll leave it at that tbh before I get the thread closed

You merge when you are told to. On things like road works. That's not 600 yards before the obstruction. This causes needless tail backs, which blocks junctions and causes even more traffic jams. Simple really.

Do what the road signs and road markings tell you.
