My ATI HD2900 is arriving today, and this is the first ATI card ive ever had. Do i get the updated drivers straight from the AMD/ATI site, like NVIDIA's site?

Or can some one post the link to the driver section please.... Thanks in advance!

Ive never done this before for ati!

Can't seem to get 3dmark05 or 06 to run under vista :(

Shame really, but all I know is performance has gone up over my old 7800GT (512MB) SLi rig., by quite a margin, so I'm happy :D

Q: I just bought the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT and 3DMark06 freezes during the splash-screen. What is wrong and how can I fix this?
A: This is a known issue and we have been able to reproduce it in our test lab. The problem lays in an DLL which we use to detect the graphics cards' core and memory speeds. We are working on an update to correct this issue after which all Futuremark benchmarks should run fine with the latest offerings from all IHV's. Until then you can work around this issue either by renaming the "Direcpll.dll" file (found in %WINDIR%\system32\Futuremark\MSC\) to something else, or you can run the benchmark using the -nosysteminfo command line. Please note that if you use the -nosysteminfo command line, you will not be able to publish the result online. Futuremark will inform all its users when the update is available!

is it this?

Run it with the workaround:

A64 X2 3800+ (@4200+ speeds)
2GB PC3200
Sapphire HD2900XT (Stock)
Windows Vista Ultimate x32

8014.

Not sure where that leaves me in relation to other systems, but its only a small increase over what I had. (2x7800GT 512MB's got me 7784 marks)

Dunno, from what I've gathered 3800+'s at stock gert about 1500 cpu score, so yours will be getting about 1800? And in my system with a C2D that scores 2700-2800 I get 11k. Maybe you should try renaming the .dll if you're using the "-nosysteminfo" thing, 'cause 1k more in cpu score shouldn't make that much of a difference....

I did run it with the renamed dll (renamed to .dl_).

oh well, hope new drivers are good, don;t want everyone complaining and going back to the 7.4s' hehehe :p
I hope the new drivers are good too, but my gut feeling is that they won't be much better than the current ones.

I'll be ordering the parts for my G/F's new rig on friday, so these drivers are AMD/ATi's last chance to get my cash (this round).

Ive now got my ATI HD2900 XT installed and running with Vista Ultimate....

Ive installed Steam, and been playing Day of Defeat Source..... I have found that there are some graphics problems that i never had before! There is a distant fog every where.... Also the sniper rifle is completely messed up, the whole texture for the rifle is purple and black squares.... Ill try and post a image later!

P.S this is using the ATI Vista Drivers on the first page of this topic!

8.38

Not had any issues myself with source games (Played HL2:EP1 and HL2:Lost Coast), however I did get random graphical errors with the lost planet demo, although I'm unsure if that should work properly on the ATi card.

- The squares on the rifle indicates a missing texture, reinstall day of defeat.
- The distant fog is a Valve issue on all there games, this happens on the Nvidia 8800 Series too, but they are working on a fix.
