R600 - When

The BFG on release day. £487 > £493 > £500 > £493

Quite entertaining :p

indeed, i saved a bit'o'dosh there, ordering instantly.

I have a feeling it is going to come down in price as the demand starts to shrink slightly, wont be irritated though.
After all these years in computers ive learnt one big thing.

The second you buy something, something newer, faster, cheaper and better in every way comes out.

But it has got to the point where some parts dont need anymore upgrades. (depending upon needs):)

WTF, Nooooo, There better be some kind of converter available for the 2x4pin connecter. If it does end up being an 8pin PCIe

Something wrong with it then. ;) At the moment I am playing Battlefield 2, Call Of Duty 2, Oblivion, Dark Messiah and City Of Villains all maxed out in 1440x900 and loving it. I think the only game that will dent it will be Crysis, but I won't upgrade for one game.
We know - you tell us that your 1900XT cuts through everything and you don't want a G80 in every single G80/R600 thread... Repeatedly.... ZzZZzZzzzZzzzzz

I've only said it in this thread, and people are agreeing with me?

Why don't you find someone else to follow around the forums? Please add me to your ignore list so that I don't have to put up with your idiotic replies every time I post (which is a lot less than it used to be nowadays) or next time I will simply RTM.

Seriously, don't pretend it's not a case of seeing my name and compulsively posting crap. I wasn't born yesterday.

Hahahahahhaha..... Ahem, sorry - you obviously think people are more interested in you than they are...

Please go ahead and take your own advice, you know where the ignore button is - if you don't like people replying to your posts which are quite obviously designed to provoke a response then either don't post them or feel free to add me and others to your ignore list

I'm posting in G80/R600 threads because I'm genuinely interested in buying one as part of a machine refresh. You stalk the threads with no useful contribution other than to try to provoke a response from others with your "G80 is pants, I don't need one, DX10 is boring twaddle". We get it, you don't want one, we just don't care... Just stop telling us several times a day.

As you have no interest in the G80 or R600 I can only assume your contined posts in every thread where people that have, or are considering the next gen cards is trolling, and quiet frankly it's getting boring....

Every time you post you manage to wind up several people (even in this thread) why don't you give it a rest?

Thanks....

Nope not a sausage, they are very quiet, wonder why.
Odd isn't it...

There seemed to be a bit of info way back when the assumption was that the R600 would be a development of the chipset used in Xbox360 and would be the first card to use Unified Architecture. Back then for some reason the assumption was that the G80 wouldn't.

Ever since the G80 specs got leaked though it's gone very quite from ATI which is a shame, they've made some very elegant cards in the past (nvidia have tended to use the brute force approach).

With some decent info I could be tempted to hang on for R600, some competition in the next gen card market and a possible price drop would be a good thing. With no info though i'm more tempted to just go for the G80 (i'm doing a whole PC refresh fro the first time in 3 years, i'm still on AGP :) )

Hmmm.....

I'm just going off what I have seen. Every time a post appears with my name on it, you just have to make some sort of comment. Please, shoo. If my posts are so offensive as you say then put me on ignore or whatever, but just stop following me around the graphics forum as it's really quite sad. Find somebody else to stalk.

If thinking that makes you feel important then please go ahead and keep thinking that

I'm participating in the G80 threads because I'm likely to buy one (or a R600... maybe a G80 refresh... nope, def a 8800gtx... errr... bugger - still can't make up my mind...). As you've clearly said several hundred times they hold no interest to you I think it's clear who's doing the thread trolling/stalking round here.

Anyway, just hit that good old "ignore" button and problem solved.

It's getting rather annoying that there cannot be talk about an 8800 series without someone somewhere dropping it to an arguement or a slating.

8800's are way too big! OMG!

8800's take way too much power! OMG!

Who cares!? It's the first release of a new card! They will get smaller, and more power effecient, But to say, LOL you like a 1st gen 8800 :D You must like AOL then hahahaha. You sound like a 10 year old kid!

If you are waiting for the refresh of the card, you obviously like it's current performance results. It's just the size and the power usage then is it?

If thats the case, then surely it shouldnt matter to people if others are going out to buy the card, They obviously have an adequate PSU to support it and they obviously have the case space.

Feb/March seems to be the best guess so far. The original theory was late Jan with the Vista public launch but if that was the case you'd have thought we'd have heard something by now.

According to a couple of sites some underclocked engineering sample R600s have gone out to software developers for App Compat testing/Dev, not sure how true that is though... /shrug

So when does this R600 card come out then?

Speculation was on the 1st page to a march release, But the inquirer says there may be a redesign, Which could push it back. But i never trust the inquirer to be honest :) If it turns out to be right then fine. But i'm sticking to a march release until someone more credible says otherwise

So, during all this stalking, you've not paid any attention at all to what I've actually been saying? Why am I not surprised.

I do have an interest in the 8800GTX/GTS, I do have an interest in R600, and I do intend to buy one of their refreshes (unless they're a joke too, in which case I buy a Wii.) I have as much right to compliment or criticise them as anybody.

It's you who has a compulsive need to reply to posts with my name on it, why don't you?

Even if I put you on ignore, you'll only keep replying to my posts. In fact, I think I will just to see how much of a muppet you really are, because it'll still show your posts but have nothing in them. :D

So we have to wait untill March for real competition? Bummer.

Maybe I'll crack open my toaster and try and make meeself a DX10 card. If I succeed I promise to sell them a lot cheaper than NVidia.

Hadn't seen that.... Wonder if that's why it's gone quiet on the R600 front.

Having said that i guess it could just be because of the AMD/ATI stuff they decided not to do any official announcements about new products that could affect share price etc?

What's wrong with AOL!?!?

To be serious for a moment, it swings both ways. You have people in one camp picking the 8800 apart, but equally you get people announcing the 8800 is the 2nd coming, complete with trumpeting angels and flying cherubs. They are both as bad as one another.

One thing is for certain, you will pay more for these cards right now, not just because they are new tech but more because they have no competition in the near foreseable future and any company would be crazy not to profit on a situation like that.
