R9 290X Owners Thread

All of the AIB 290's are great cards. What is your budget? Will you be to looking to overclock or run stock?

My budget isnt really the issue, I can pretty much get any 290x, just can't afford the 295x.

I like the look of the self contained Kraken version OCUK are selling, but I don't know if the extra cost is worth it, I've also heard in reviews that the Lightning edition is the fastest.

Lightning over a **** kraken card ANY DAY.

Get a lightning. The best 290X going.

Whilst this may be true if budget isn't an issue or concern, it doesn't represent good value for money compared to other 290X's that can be purchased for over £120 less.

The performance gained through overclocking wouldn't be worth the extra expense for gaming.

I personally would still want one, even though my current 290X clocks quite well.

Go on.

I have seen the market for what used 290X's go for now and I wouldn't like to sell my 290X and get back half what it cost me at Christmas :(

Which is a shame as apart from about 10 hours play on BF4 and a bit of benching my 290X hasn't been used.

Might consider going water cooling for my setup, that will ease the upgrade itch.

I think he meant to ask what your clocks are ;)

Yup

Ha didn't realise, but then I am at work supposed to be working :D

Can run at 1175 / 1625 (6500) with +100mv

The memory is actually at the max that msi afterburner will let me go too, so I don't know how much higher I could get with it.

Anyway not too bad with just +100mv?

Pretty avarage, not bad at all.

1200 would be a decent mark for that voltage if mine and a few others are anything to go by.
..I think.

I don't think there are many that will hit 1200 with stability and no artifacts with just +100mv and with stock air cooling, though of course there no doubt will be a few to prove me wrong.

What 290X do you have?

Ref 290's actually and they are under water tbh... Still, I'm reasonably sure that Matt's do the same with ref coolers.

1175 isn't a bad clock either way mate :)

Yeah a lot of the good clockers seem to be from the original release of reference cooled cards.

Great for those that bought a reference card and are water cooling them as they got a good clocking card and running cool & quiet with the water cooling. Best of both worlds.

Both of mine will do 1200/1550 at +100mv. I can probably push them a bit higher but not really tried as i only have them that when i do a benchmarking run. For 24/7 i run 1050/1250 on both cards at -0.037v and -0.100mv AUX.

Same here, I only clock my card for fun trying to get higher bench scores.

At stock 1040/1250 I am more than happy for gaming, though I could run 1,100/1500 at stock voltage for extra performance. I probably wouldn't notice the difference though.

That's interesting to see you have lowered your volts for 24/7 use, haven't really considered doing that before. Though I guess that is of more benefit with 2 cards and probably not worth it for 1?
