R9 290X Owners Thread

Missed that, sorry. Disabled powerplay within AB and disabled ULPS, with the voltage command in place it doesn't drop. Reset back to default 200mv slider and it drops off. Very strange, but it means I can bench FS on 13.12 which seem to give better results in FM

Thats one way of doing it, i find unistalling CCC cures all my annoyance with volts and clocks randomly resting back to default.

This new Xtreme Kit was moaning something chronic so had to lower it 2200, (lost my OC profiles recently)

So by that time last a 100 or so points on graphics. Giving it a rest till the block arrives me thinks, all in vain ATM :D

GPU load is only saying 32 which is obviously a load of crap AB readout says 100%. If I were to score that @ 32% load I'd be laughing :D

Still, not too bad at all for air. I've never been one for winning the silicon lottery lol.

Me neither :o

What, with your 'golden' 1200? :p

1290/1625 on two cards on the reference cooler with +200mv. Not too shabby i think considering it was £560 for the pair. Would go higher with more voltage but temps become the problem and i wouldn't put any more through than that without better cooling anyway. Currently the highest 290 Pro air score in the bench thread anyway.

6. 18399. GFX Score 25030. 290. Air cooled. Physics Score 13278. CPU 2700K @ 5.2 Water cooled - LtMatt - Link

1290/1625 is pretty good imo.
Mine didn't even do 1250/1500. Didn't spend much time on it though.

It did blackscreen at stock though, so probably not the best example.

Did you have MSI VGA Fan Control open? That causes problems with mine and I believe that was responsible for the death of my previous one.

GPU-Z, MSI VGA Fan Control and 3DMark open = VRAM voltages/temps become random numbers. Close fan control and it goes back to normal. Pre-RMA I had been using MSI VGA Fan Control to monitor while running benchmarks, started out with black screens then eventually damaged VRAM stopped my system booting.
Black screen crashed once with the replacement card then I managed to figure out what was causing the problem. No further problems since I stopped opening that program.
