Epic Kaaps well done pal;)

Thanks, I can't wait until I get them on water.:)

Hmm i wonder just cause you have Crossfire (2) R290X are they worth guying for 1080p? or one is all that's really needed? i have 144hz monitor.

Have you thought about getting two R9 290s when they launch next week, almost the same performance but should be a lot cheaper.

Well i don't really care about $$ all i want is "perfect" performance so i can just order put it in my PC turn on BF4 put everything on Ultra and play with 60+ Fps :)

So will 1 be enough or do I need 2 of them :)?

Also was thinking about going for Windows 8.1 cause i heard it does make BF4 better experience.

Just had a quick go on BF4 (I am the worlds worst player) @1080p maxed and was averaging about 100 to 110 on one card and 160 to 180 on two cards.

Is that with any side fans Kaap?

It was with the side of the case off, I don't think they would run that much hotter with the side on.

I think people are getting carried away with this temp thing. I just ran my GTX 690s on Valley @stock and one of the GPUs hit 90c which is normal for them.

Can I join the club? Upgrading from an ageing 5870 to a 290X, taking advantage of the daily deal.

I suspect I might need to upgrade my 450W PSU though... :(

Mine arrives tomorrow but I won't get it until Friday as I'm away from home, it's like torture knowing it's waiting.

Don't forget to post a pic of your 290X with your name on it, so you can go on the roll of honour.:)

BF4 is full of bugs, if your not getting these problems with other games, wait for a fix from DICE.

Alsorts wrong with that game, CPU spikes, Sound dropouts, crashing, i used to get black screen hanging on "logging in" that stopped when i accessed the game from another admin account on my PC.

If they don't sort the bugs in BF4, it could end up being left on the mantle piece.:p

i have never seen my r9 290x actually get to 1000mhz on the GPU...usually sits around 700mhz even at full load in BF4. Humbug is right, but that is nothing that can't be solved by a third party cooler to unleash it's potential.

i am on uber mode, but perhaps if I give it a little more fan speed I can reach 1k mhz before getting another cooler

Turn up your fan speeds and 1000mhz should be easy.

Mine have no problem running overclocked @1200mhz.

How are you finding the card so far Mr K?

I have only used it for benching but I really like them. I think I will like them even more when I watercool them though.

I think using them for gaming will be a bit like the benchmarks, there are some things the 290X will do well and some things the NVidia cards will do well.

I did try some 3 way CF the other day but my poor 1200watt Corsair PSU was not up to the job. I will be using two 1200watt PSUs in a 900D case in the finished setup. Anyone buying these cards and overclocking should invest in a very sturdy PSU as these cards can use a lot of power.

You tried any games yet kaaps with the card/s at 1200? what's the voltage your putting through them?

I had a quick play yesterday @1200/6500 but lasted around 10mins before i got a CTD with a direct x error.

May have been my memory though due to the lack of voltage control in Gpu Tweak.

I have not tried any games yet but I have used then for several hours at a time benching and found them quite stable. I have been using 1.375v but I could probably get it down to 1.35v for a lot of things.

I don't normally overclock when I use cards for gaming but I think somewhere around 1150/1550 would be a good clock to use.
