R9 290X Owners Thread

still stock everything but flipped the switch on the gpu to uber mode

also ran the performance one and that was just under 13500, in that just the graphics score had gone up and the physics and combined were a little less. I didn't save the score so don't have the numbers.

according to afterburner the max gpu temp hit 93oC, 55% fan speed.

I would overclock the cpu but need to sort out the temperature issues with it(have the ocuk h2flo which is an unbranded corsair h60, was getting prime95 load temps of 100oC so have put the stock cooler on but still getting them), going to be going watercooling in the near future but may need to be sooner than I was planning.

can people who have a 290x post there overclock settings. i have just flashed mine to the asus bios and the max i can get before i get the white artefacts is 1150\1500 at 1.350v can i ask what this power target is and what it does and also where best to Place it on GPU tweek ??

also getting bad crashes where i can be playing BF4 for 10 mins then just get 2 black screens and locks up and have to power off. any ideas ??

Ran a 15min test on Heaven @ stock:

GPU: 41 degC
VRM1: 43degC
VRM2: 32degC

Very happy!!! Roll on Afterburner voltage control...

Ok so my settings are very much the same as yours I can't get past 1160/6400 no matter what volts I set in gpu tweak as there seems to be a max pull of 1.313v. There is a modded asos bios out there PT1 it removes the volt limit and the throttling and keeps LLC high so the volts are more even. But I don't want to risk it at the moment :)

Basically the power target I am not 100% sure about but it needs to to maxed so the card can pull all it needs when overclocking.

Can't wait to see more results of people who put the card under water :)

The modded Asus bios is for ln2 users and it's worse on air, don't use or try it.
 
Ok well, Not sure i will be keeping it anyway.

The card seems to suffer from coil whine.

Im getting annoyed with AMD.. My DCII 7970's NEVER had coil whine, the 7990 was an ear bleeder and so is this 290x.

Could it be my PSU causeing it? Its an XFX platinum pro 1KW.... Is there anything i can do to stop it? im ready to throw this out the window

That looks the business Luke nice purchase .... I feel the pull towards green team but seeing those temps makes me feel a whole lot happier at the thought of a few 290s ...oh curse this gpu merrygoround :(
 
just tried a quick go on borderlands 2, temps hit 94oC with fan @55%(switch is at uber mode).

anyone else with bioshock infinite finding that it crashes/freezes when trying to load it after exiting from another game(or even after having exited it from it for the first time then trying to load it for a second time)? when you try loading it just stays on a black screen and doesn't load, have to alt-tab out of it or press the restart on button on the case. restarting the pc then allows you to load it fine.
mot sure if its the graphics card causing that for me or something else.
 
i don't understand this i have 290X on full stock with 1000W PSU i7 and when i play Bf4 sometimes i get black screen and there is NOTHING i can do.... just restart it

any of you have same problem?

if yes how to fix it;(
