*R9 290X Prolimatech MK-26 Fitting Guide*

They're not ready for that :D

Well, that must be something new with this card because VRM1 has always been the hotter one of the two in my experience and from what I've seen from others on a 7970 which has the same layout.

Yeah,i think its maybe due to the 512bit bus and the high memory bandwidth?thats why vrm2 gets hotter.Just a thought tho.

The Alpehnfohn VRAM/VRM heatink pack comes with thermal glue.Is that any good?Or do you guys can recommend me some decent thermal glue?

unfortunatly looking at your pictures there is no way this heatsink will fit inside my case, I have about 1.5cm of room between my card and the side panel with the stock cooler on.

Do you knwo of any cooling solution which isnt so big but offers decent cooling? I dont mind going large the other way like it being a 3/4 slot cooler.

Check out the Arctic Accelero Hybrid that can keep the vrms cool to with a dedicated fan and the core with water and its easy to fit inside pretty much every case.

Guys who own this type of cooler, what thermal paste you guys used and what fans you using? What method you used for applying thermal paste, and what are your temps.Im getting bad temps and i reinstalled the heatsink like 10times now, getting sick of it.I just cant figure out what can be the problem.I used some rubber washers under the screws and tightened them real good to spread the paste evenly. Can that be a problem?i mean too much pressure on gpu can be bad towards temp?

I got SP120's and Noctua NF-A14's both produce bad temps on the core.I reinstalled the heatsink with the PK-3 paste and temps fails.I used MX-2 before and i had 61C on the core at max speed with the SP120 that was good but still higher then it should be i think.

Nice thread- I'm thinking of going kraken - I should be good for heatsinks. I've been here before with a DangerDen Maze 4. I think I will hold out till 390 arrives.

that was my TX, it sagged like crazy without the backplate heat sink, but it cooled very well............its the Accelero, it's back at stock now
