*R9 290X Prolimatech MK-26 Fitting Guide*

its only a ref for me, in battlefield it gehts only 86°

@ Krait

you mean the triangle part or the copper one more in the front ?

Some (bad) pictures taken on my old mobile - The last one shows the part I didn't use.
Oh and ignore the dust elsewhere.

edit
short test in burn in, 15° better O.o
that was a damn good idea, thx for sharing it :D

@peppi

I also cut the raised bar near the power inputs, shown at the bottom of your pic - it interfered with the Accelero but it might not with the Prolimatech.
:)

edit:
My original temps on the reference were 93c, 64c & 81c for the vrm2 - The large drop might be to do with the larger gaps between the accelero's fins and the fan's positioning.

on the proli it doesnt care, it fits perfekt with the bars :D
again big thx fpor the great tipp, ich will post some diferent temp stats in the evening, but alone in the burn in 15° is really great :D

i think bf4 will have 15-20° better temps

Would be possible to just remove the stock heatsink from that metal plate and use the whole of it?Like a waterblock and that plate would cool the rams and vrms.

Peppi you used the big Alpehnfohn VRM heatsink with the prolimatech and that yielded that poor temps?Pls game a bit in BF4 and loop heaven 4.0 for a bit and screenshot gpu z vrm temps with this plate you cut from the stock cooler.I would appreciate it.

I don't think its a good Idea cutting the heat-sink of the original fan in case you need to send it back under warranty. Some AIB`s allow replacing fans/blocks but as long as you send it back with the original Fan/heat-sink attached.

I would go water, or wait for After-market cards if heat and noise is an issue.

XFX doesnt allow you to change the cooler, so no warranty for me :)

BF4 temps
right 20% fan, left 50% both speeds not audible

GPU Temp between 59 and 63

In North America region they do, I actually called yesterday and spoke with Customer Service on warranty and aftermarket cooler support. They allow aftermarket coolers as long as you keep original HSF if you need to ever RMA you need to reattach the original HSF.

I had an thought for using MK-26 with half-sized fins on the VRM and mounting 2-3 50mmx50mmx10mm on the underside. Using an straight bracket with rubber/plastic washers using long screw/nut setup. Think it would work?

Thos are great temps btw. Thanks for showing it mate :) I still cant decide to fabricate this plate or use the Alpehnfohn vrm heatsink that beast cant be bad with great airflow on it.

i was on the Alpehnfohn vrm heatsink, and had bad temps
i think the cuttet plate are the best choice, or some copper plate with some handwork

Nice looking cooler that. I have had good experiences with similar coolers in the past, they're definitely worth a go.

Glad to see your temps are looking a lot better. I'd personally have expected slightly lower load temps but it's still considerably better than 95c that's for sure.

I bet it wouldn't affect temps too much if you fitted a few voltage regulators to those fans, if you wanted it quieter that is.

I checked the guru3d review with thermal image, and it shows that VRM 1 is the one at the back of the board, and VRM2 is the IC.Am i right?Thats why VRM2 gets that hot beacause you guys just used the puny heatsink on it with no airflow in the front of the card.
