Race Driver: Grid

What is issue ?

I play it at 1920x1440 be it 4:3, is your RES missing for 16:10 or such ?.

its not only me, other people have mentioned that the game plays like a slideshow if i up the res above 1280, no matter what the graphics level is set to. Someone in the codemasters forums had a 9800 GX2 quad core CPU and 4Gb RAM and was having the same issue, they told him to crank back the res a bit....I dont think so, there is obviously an issue that needs sorting. Im loving the game as is though so not too bothered now, having to enter another screen for a secnd before changing my sponsors has just become automatic now (if i enter the sponsor screen after obtaining new ones it crashes on exit) like i said above annoying but im used to it now, just hoping this patch or the next sorts it.

Dude, did you try the high priority trick that works for me?

GRID is now on steam. I had an inkling it would come out on there.

Not a bad price either, for us in the UK:eek:

$60 for the US, just $40 for the UK. Makes it just about the same price as its available for at online stores. Nice for us to get a good deal for a change:D

Well since I fixed the analogue stickissue by upping deadzone to 5% I got a response form MS by emial today:

Monkies....

indeed, I sent the email to MS support for the gamepad hardware stating the issue is nothing to do with the xbox...lol also the people on the phone want an xbox serial number to verify I'm within warranty...lol again?

you mean setting the core affinity to one core? or the process GRID.exe to high or realtime? does windows save this once you have set it as I cant alt tab out of the game without killing it?

Load the game then Ctrl/alt/del and select start task manager. Sometimes it goes straight back to the game but just keep trying. Then right click on GRID.exe in the processes tab and select priority High. Then click on the GRID program in the taskbar to return to the game. It'll stay like that until you close the program.

If this works let me know and I'll find the command for you that sets it everytime you start the game.

I think I know the one to tak on the end of the target line, ill try it tonight.

This is what i use in vista32;

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe"

It's slightly different in vista64 though.

Incidently, if you are running vista, you need SP1 for this game to work properly................ so codemasters say.

dont they say its advisable but not a requirement, even so I will update all tonight and try the above and see what happens. Cheers!:)

The game stutters like hell pre-SP1 Vista64 (well did for me) to the point where it was totally unplayable. Installed the SP and it runs as smooth as melted butter.

Thanks Wolvers, will use that tonight.

Yep, I've heard than anyone with a 2900XT should use it too, I've been running it waaay before GRID came out so I can't say that I would have had a problem with my 2900XT had I not been running it~ :D ;)

It was me that gave Wolf that setting for CPU Priority but it makes no difference to myself, I still get stuttering in the Menu's esp.

He also runs it on 1 Core and gets results.

It is the same for 32bit and 64bit as the game installs to the 32bit folder.

1) Go to your GRID.EXE in the installed location and right click it and send a shortcut to the Desktop.

2) The Desktop shortcut will look like any other game shortcut with GRID's icon, right click it and choose Properties.

3) In the TARGET box add [ %windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high ] to the BEGINING of the text already there, ending in a SPACE between the word HIGH and the [ "C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe"]

(IGNORE ALL [ ] BRACKETS, I put there to help seperate info).

I'm on Vista64 and the game is 32bit anyhow, so you should have something like this in the TARGET box.

%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high "C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe"

4) Apply and OK it and your GRID shortcut will no longer look normal, it will be a Black and White DOS type icon.

5) Start the game with this new icon and the game will run at a High CPU Priority.

OI!.........you with the cheesy helmut! It's not Wolf....... it's Wolvers thankyou very much! ;)

Running on one core's not so good because although it solved my problem it reduced my frame rate quite a bit.

That - %windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high "C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe" is no good for Vista32 as the program files folder is just called 'C:\Program Files' and not 'C:\Program Files (x86)'.

OK jhuk?! ;)

Hello all

Since changing the graphics settings to Ultra high, the game no longer works, I load up the game and the screen goes black and the intro/music is all stuttery and the screen remains black...??

Ive tried reinstalling and I did a system restore and it still keeps going to a black screen
