Race Driver: Grid

what is the ready button in multiplayer ? it says it's up arrow but i push it and it wont ready up

It's the shift key, the image is badly designed, and to be honest so is the choice of key.

i just cant for the life of me 'drift', ive seen videos of players getting millions of pts and x50 multipliers whereas i struggle just getting around the bleedin track !!

Very disappointed with the drifting I find that with all the assists off I tend to lose all control of the car and at most have reached a 3x multiplier. :(

I remember drifting brilliantly on PGR on the original XBOX, shame it's not like that.

Anyone one else getting some bad shimmering with this game with a x1950pro? Its starting to pee me off. Also it seems AF doesnt seem to work even if you force it to 16x in CCC. I mean it still looks blury the road at a distance. Also why is it that i cant pick fsaa 6x as my card is capable, tho this prob isnt just this game a lot of games only show up to 4x aa setting and not 6x.

I tryed forcing 6x aa but it just breaks the aa in the game so it is useless trying to force it.
The blurry road at a distance is most likely depth of field.

Played it, don't really see how this any better or moved on from toca 2 ? still old gen graphics and the old shunting online.
Was fun for about 2 races then I got my rear end shunted off the track in to a corner by someone using me as their brake ah well.

Well just in from going to the shops & noticed the bloom on the cars & GRID has it about right except for the higher amount of softening the bloom has in the game but you do get higher amount of softening with looking through a TV camera.

I originally thought it was the up arrow, until i accessed the advanced options menu and couldnt change anything till i realised the symbol was a shift key, lol.

After that it was plain sailing.

Just tried this and I thought it was excellent; finally a racing game for the PC that has the same polish and smooth visuals as console racers. The post processing is on the heavy side, but its suits the gameplay plus the blur effect is incredible, best I've seen. You know the motion blur is working because even though I got an average fps of 25, it still looked very smooth and totally playable. Pushed all the details as far as they go and ran it at 1680x1050/2xAA without a hitch.

Only problem is that my x1900xt hit 100C for the first time, lol. Think I need to open up the fan, clear out the dust and reapply some thermal paste; not bad though, since it has been stuck in my case for around 2 years now. :o

My best time with the Touring Cars is around 1:17.5 or thereabouts.

Can't seem to get a consistent lap though, best i have managed position-wise online is 3rd.

I'm not going online until I can get under 1:20 :) I can consistently do between 1:22 and 1:24, but that's embarrassingly crap.

I have gotten under 1:16 but 1:13 is really something.
He must have found away of cutting across the grass & holding it together enough to still get a better time even tho he may of spun.

I dunno, you might do alright. I'm pretty good now and I know that simply driving considerately and sensibly will get you a decent position alone. Be the kind of driver that will pull out of a challenge if you think one of you are going to die (really, most people don't). People get angry and obsessed easily, almost everyone will spin out or crash, like 90% will in a 5 lap race. So long as you don't, even if you're not the fastest, you'll do alright.

Then again, taking the wrong line or taking the right line too slowly is pretty dangerous online. Maybe you should just see how you go.

You think there is any chance of the console counterparts handling slightly differently? 1:13 is insane.

I just beast my record (slightly), 1:15.55

Whoever was asking about best lap times, it doesn't make a record. You just have to keep an eye out.

Proper accelerator control is the most important, I've learnt to never go around a corner or even the track with it fully pressed. I loved power sliding around the tracks on MSR too but this is entirely different since your not focusing on going around a corner fast. Keep your speed around the track at around 60-70mph, about the minimum needed to drift in the game and not enough to lose control easily. Just managed to get about 16.5 million points :]

Well i had ago on my Xbox360 & it did feel a bit different & more forgiving.

I haven't got into drifting at all to be honest, will be something to learn when the full game comes out

Going back to XP from Vista today*, wonder if I'll still CTD after 2 races in the demo....

*Sorry Vista fans, dx10 is too slow and useless, I get annoyed with Vista asking for permission for everything and half the programs I have don't work anymore.

Played it last night, very nice graphics, drive doesnt feel right thou(however i wouldnt have a clue how a touring car drives like). Multiplayer is nice to until you get to first corner where everyones brake point is different, so you get crashes like it or not.

It crashed couple times on my 7900GT where I tried to spectate.
