Race Driver: Grid

After playing the demo, this is a definate buy. I just hope it's available at some point on Steam.. I'm to lazy to go to the shop / insert DVD to install :D

*so* looking forward to some of the night-time races!
 
Never really got into many racing games (the odd game with mates on Gran turismo) but this and DiRT really intrigue me for some reason. May be its the lovely damage system in place? Reminds me a bit of Destruction Derby 1&2 on the PS1.

I've only played the demo of DiRT but is the full game worth buying?
 
If the DiRT demo runs ok on your PC you might as well get the full game for £10 now. GRID runs even better to, so grab that at the end of the month :)
 
I think my record so far on the muscle track is something like a 1.42. I've been fully neglecting the touring cars in favor of this... the longer race are awesome fun when you manage to negotiate the first few turns successfully. Unfortutely I rarely get such good will from the other drivers, and have to hope that they swipe eachother out so I can ride by safely. I don't know exactly what the ideal technique is but I've been tapping the handbrake on a lot of corners. Even though the car seems to be naturally slidey it does help get a better angle.

I hope these muppets, escpecially the ones that put it in park right off the bat so that you get totalled within 5 secs of race start do not purchase the real game! I can understand crashing in games like LFS because they are super boring unless you are a hardcore racer, but this game is just too fun to need to crash.

I am impressed on how smooth it is and the quality of the graphics, got the new NV drivers and before 4xAA was abit laggy but now at 1680x1050 with 16xCSAA this game is silky smooth! and looks amazing!.
 
Well I've switched to XP and now instead of crashing on the 2nd-3rd race I can't even complete 1 now :(

On a side note, rotter023 I have emailed both [email protected] and [email protected] because my forum acount is messed up (I log in using current email address then it says "renault" you can't view this page, yet renualt use to be my password and carrot1401 is my username!!) Can you shout at them to fix it (just delete me altogether so I can at least post in the GRID forum of my problems)

The handling on the Xbox demo seemed a little odd... The handling on the PC using my G25 is pretty pathetic, maybe ive been spoilt by GTR2.

Im loving the game even more than I expected to, shame you're not getting into it. Just a good job they put a demo out BEFORE the games release:D Makes a nice change!
 
This is now the first game I have pre-ordered from a proper shop (if you dont count the pre release of orange box to get TF2 beta access) since I preordered GT3 hoever many years ago that was!
 
I don't particularly like it either - I prefer the realism of my sims (lfs, race07 etc), the handling in this game just doesn't do it for me.
