Race Driver: Grid

yeah kinda makes you wonder. Grid was up for 360 before pc though not as many peeps dling presumably as modding your xbox is infinitely more complicated than burning an ISO to a blank DVD.

Installing now, oh boy!

interesting, looks like they've gone out on a limb to an extent and thought well there's nothing much we can realistically do currently to stop piracy so why bother. Slightly worrying though is the threatening overtone that says if people keep pirating, we ain't gonna produce for pc no more.....

CD checks at least help a little though. If you pirate games you usually have to put up with the annoyance of having to find cracked servers or whatever. The only advantage for Codemasters is that the game will be a good bit more populated. There really is no incentive for some people to buy this game.

that's what I find surprising though. I'd accept that if I were to download a game off a torrentsite, I'm not gonna be able to play online. Was happy to buy this (pre-ordered but not arrived yet:( )as I've enjoyed the other TOCA games including the demo for GRid, and wanted to play online with a couple of mates who're also on about buying it. I don't like overly aggressive copy-protection (starforce etc) but I think that some kind of method of keeping pirate copies off the servers would have been nice.

If only my order would turn up in time for the weekend..

Well turns out my g25 is totally useless for this.

I tested it and found that my xbox controller when puttin the pedal to the metal is roughly 10 mph faster than my g25 when maxed out on the straights. I mean wtf?!

I spent hours wondering why everyone was zipping past me trying to get my wheel adjusted, then plugged in my gamepad and went from 12th to 1st within 20 seconds of the damn race.

It's a shame cos I really wanted to use my wheel + pedals so I could stop the wheelspin with the touring cars etc, but I'll just havew to compromise I guess.

kidding right ? this must be a bug surely.

I just checked the Help file with the game, and it says this -

"GRID™ can be configured to use almost any PC controller, however we recommend the following controllers for the best game play experience:

Microsoft X360 controller
Logitech G25
Logitech MOMO
Logitech Driving Force Pro
Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Pro
GRID™ provides default configurations for all of the above, meaning that you should be able to plug-and-play, with no tweaking required.

If you are setting up a wheel manually it is recommended that the pedals are on separate, rather than combined axis."

It says the G25 is supported and setup automatically, so erm, think what you will :).

I think this is one of those games that seems more suited with a controller. I've completely given up on using my G25 with this and resorted to using my wired 360 pad. Nice to see everything configure automatically for you though at least.

My reciever gadget came today, works a treat :) £33 for the controller and reciever

the DB9 skin is pretty sexy, plus u get to race with it from the start in the career mode, which is quite a nice little bonus when all you start out with is a banger. I'd post a screenshot but the admins might tear it down ;p

^^ I am using the latest gaming software too. I had to do an uninstall then followed the steps on the official forums to get it to work, now it works but just can't go fast enough in a straight line :P. Pedals are on seperate axes too. Oh well, the xbox cont is insanely good for this so I'm just gonna stick with it. I definately would not recommend buying a wheel purely for GRID.

Hmmm, strange. Are the latest drivers for the device supplied with the gaming software ?

edit: also, are both of you running the same version of the gaming software and what OS are you both using ?

Cool, thanks, now I wonder if all the G25 users having problems use it~ ;) :)

My copy was sitting behind the door when I got back from work so I now take back what I said about the DB9 store being slow.

I have a G25 and before installing the demo I updated to the latest version of software (502) and it worked prefectly. I keep images of my system so I frequently re-image and just layer the drivers on top, will image it this time as I have a load of games on that I no longer play or have completed.

My wife is now a grid widow....

Thanks for that :) I hope to have mine on arrival back home tonight :D

Having cancelled my order numerous times for failing to progress I've finally got one shipped, not sure if it will be here by morning though. :(

Although I've already seen several posts, from people crying out for a patch and that bugs in the demo are still present in the final game.

I assume this is the now missing REG info from Logitech Forums Sticky (they removed it in a update on 29th).

QUOTED :

"
1) Determine the hardware ID of the wheel:
Open Device Manager and select Human Interface Devices
Right-click the wheel in question and click Properties
Click on the Details tab
Under the Property dropdown, select Hardware IDs
Under Value you can find the hardware IDs, which will look like (but not exactly- these are examples):

USB\VID_046D&PID_CA03&REV_0019
USB\VID_046D&PID_CA03

2) Unplug the wheel from the USB Socket on the PC.

3) Uninstall the Logitech Gaming Software (LGS)

4) Run regedit

5) Delete the following registry keys which correspond with the hardware ID found in step 1:

EG: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control \MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput\VID _046D&PID_CA03
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control \MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VI D_046D&PID_CA03
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\V ID_046D&PID_CA03

6) Re-install the LGS, making sure you correctly follow the prompts regarding plugging the wheel in. (as in “don’t plug it in till it tells you to”) "

Can anyone tell me there setup for 360 controller please deadzone was all over the shop on default on game i since toggled it but still not quite right.

Straight playing it had delay in steering which was awful weird why its not programmed to work right straight off.
