Racism

You're telling me that if no one cares about the racism then it is no longer considered racist?! Whether people are offended or not does not change the definition of racism.

I'm saying that just because someone may take offence, and try to claim it as racism, that doesn't mean it WAS racism. It all depends on the intent of the person who said it.

The definition of racism doesn't change depending on whether the people in the affected race actually are both by it or not. If you insult someone on the basis of their ace, it's still racism.

It might work.

We're often told to look past racism and see people for who they are... Not the colour of their skin.

How can we get past this if the media contantly makes a fuss of someone innocently using the word "coloured" or encouraging positive descrimination?!

But if you use a word that doesn't insult them and don't intend it to be used in an insulting manor then it's not insulting.

Now let me as a straight privileged white male tell you why sexism, racism and homophobia are not a problem.

*fires diarrhea cannon all over this thread*

And that is why.

I didn't say that though. I'm not talking about describing someone as black, because that's a fairly accurate representation of their skin colour to the same extent that calling someone white suggests that they are actually white. However, if you call someone an N, whether they're offended or not, it's still racism.

Yeah that's definitely racism, but then there is still that link with when people are like "My N" to describe a friend etc. We don't go around saying to our friends "Hey my honky!". All I know is the word ruins about 90% of modern hip hop music.

Agreed, yet the media and those with a chip on their shoulder make it into a problem

As a black person I cant say I'm too fond of the N word either. I struggle to understand why its still used. Cant complain though as we all have the right to say what we want.

Can open.

Worms everywhere...

Can of worms exploded, covering the thread.

Racism is stupid, I'm white, if you call me a cracker (not that it even makes sense) I won't be offended, when you call me white trash, I'd be like "er no, my house doesn't have wheels"

Racism/Religion/Censorship is all stupid, can't people just exist without being offended by something? Get over it
