Radeon 4807 or GTX X260

So the asus p5q boards are actually PCI E 1.1?

The description on overclockers mentions that the board comes with PCI E 2.0 compatibility:

"1 x PCIe 2.0 x16"

Think I need to do some more reading..

yea it can run pci-e 2.0 but it is pci-e 1.1 another way putting that would be smiler as pci-2.0 x8

u not loose much performance but still i rather have bit more future proof

well why use it it works like 1.1  or it is crossfire only ?

edit: still whats the point x38 is better then p45 and having 2 pci-e 2.0 then one would be better

and they cost the same

What?

What makes the X38 so much better? Is it because you own it or something? P45 is newer, I dont think there is anything between the 2 that makes them better or worse than each other.

P5Q is not crossfire, its a single PCI-E Slot, the P5Q-E and Deluxe are Crossfire. Best for crossfire is X48.

I think you might be meaning the fact that if crossfiring on p45 it'd be 2 x pci-e 2.0 @ 8x, whereas x48 (maybe x38 as well?) can sustain the full x16 speed on both channels

Even if it is running at PCI-E 2.0 X8 it is still PCI-E 2.0, and an X38 running at PCI-E x16 is like a P5Q mobo running in x8 anyway as X38 are only PCI 1.1.

told u again x38 is the same as x48 just different bios. u can flash it if u want to and u will have x48 rampage formula.

correct me if im wrong when u use 2.0 im not sure single of crossfire p5q start to work on x8 instead x16 which looses some performance

edit: there was a mob chart as well p5k mainstream x38/x48 enthusiast

so why not buy better board for the same amount of money

X48 is a different chipset.
Also supports PCI-E 2.0.

ask anyone with decent knowledge that asus p5e or asus x38 maximus formula which they are the same are better then p5q / p5q-e

edit: ask anyone it mob section u will see

X38 is PCIE 2.0, and the Maximus I have is the best motherboard by far I have used in this generation so far (I've tried a lot of P35 and X38, albeit not P45 or X48) and I would not swap it for any other board (maybe a X58) as it is 100% stable and it's never ever caused me a problem.

i say both of those boards are a load of crap with dodgey capacitors made in taiwan. get a gigabyte, a real mans motherboard.

On asus website it shown as PCI-E X16, I seen it is PCI-E 2.0, get a grip yourself.

official intel site: http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/x38/x38-overview.htm

Designed with headroom and engineering passion, the Intel X38 Express Chipset supports new dual-channel DDR3 memory technology, next generation dualX16 PCI Express 2.0 and Intel® Extreme Tuning to unleash exceptional performance in today's gaming applications

what i see is x38, dual x16 and PCI-e 2.0 in the same sentence. willhub is lier after all. (like anyone is surprised at that) :p
