As someone else already said AMD wouldn't take their partners' pricing into consideration when setting the msrp. We've already had quite a few people that have been shown to be trustworthy come forth and say that amd are planning on releasing a gpu with more shaders, but that they don't know when that is going to happen. Guess we'll know more tonight (doubt amd will announce anything new, but I'm hoping they will).I don't think there will be a "490" in this release. I think their giving $300 as an upper bound is simply to allow room for uncertainty in pricing and for the different manufacturers to make more expensive custom versions. If, for example, the 480 overclocks well, then there could be quite a lot of room for makers to put on good coolers and sell pre-overclocked versions. I think AMD probably want to engage the card manufacturers quite closely right now as those same card makers are probably not too happy with Nvidia right now and it gives AMD an opportunity to become the favourite partner. Allowing plenty of pricing headroom would be vital for that.
