Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Another view of the frakencard from chiphell. Cant match the PCB to any current cards when taking into account the placement of the caps, size and shape to any current 290 or 390 boards. the closes is a reference 290/x but the silver caps don't match.

It's in the tweaktown article, just scroll down.. Actual link to image is just from an image site, it was posted on the reddit thread.

I'm highly suspicious of it - but you never know. If you can OC it stable to 1400 and it performs like that - and it's the $200 card as it says.. AMD are on to a complete and utter winner.

we've seen them at 1266 - 1400 might not be a stretch......this is *coughs* far over some people saying Polaris couldn't get over 800mhz ;)

Maybe that's why the maxwell cards have been reduced today. :p

I have a feeling AMD might announce something today at the PCGamer event thing, maybe Nvidia have caught word of whats coming? i know its normal to reduce prices to clear inventory, but today of all days? why did they not do it last week? on Friday? maybe im just suspicious is all ;)

If that above benchmark is true of the 4GB OC'd card, i wonder if AMD do have a 480X/490 and how that will fare? i would laugh my rear off if they dropped a $300 490 that out performed the 1070

1/3 extra performance just from bumping up the core clock? That's quite a leap, I wonder if that can be sustained for 24/7 use?

Well to be fair - the 1080 clock is not the actual clock the card is launching with. That was just a figure pulled from some dodgy firmware. The actual clock shown by AMD was 1266 MHz

Oh Oh where is my bucket of popcorn gone

Waiting for the usual suspects to popup?

Especially since they are giving rebates to drop the prices and to clear the stock.

No wonder AMD stopped stocking all of their previous gen cards. If this thing has Fiji levels of performance and greater than it will be a massive hit.

I have hopes of some big announcement. AMD are trying to take market share so they would need to make a seriously big statement for people to take notice. The 480 can't do it on it's own.

Stock 1080Mhz?

Same as the ChipHell one. What was in the BIOS update? unlock cores and reduced clock speed?
the one at Computex was at 1266Mhz

Hi Chaps,

Updated my chart to include the "Leaked" results posted for the 480 at each clock. 1080Mhz and 1400Mhz. All other card results are stock clock results from Tweaktown reviews.

The 1080Mhz was underclocked (Or at least we believe 1266mhz will be the stock clock on release). 1400Mhz is the Graphics score not total, as it tallys up with 1080Mhz graphics score leaked. Not overall score leaked for 1400Mhz.

Also take this all with a HUGE pinch of salt please, it's all just speculation at the min

If it turns out true, AMD has a monster. God knows what 490 would be like.

Guru3d have listed some preliminary 3dmark scores too.

If this performance carries through to the actual release, looks like AMD will have a price/performance monster on their hands.

If thats the case we may see something tonight, i can't believe all these reviewers leaking, they must have got a nod from AMD

The score you have clocked at 1266mhz with 3.4k was supposed to be an 8GB card running at 1080mhz on a newer bios. While the the other card at 1080mhz was a 4GB card with 3.1k.

Yeah but also the 1400Mhz score was apparently from the 4GB card - So not including RAM amounts on the chart atm.
