Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

If these leaks turn out true then im probly gona wait a bit longer for Vega.. had my 7950 for 4 years already, just hope it'll last me that little bit longer.. its doing me good at 1080p still.. my Sandybridge (2700K) to Skylake (6700K) upgrade in less than 2 weeks will give me a little better perf in the games i play anyway, like DayZ and Arma 3 Battle Royale.

I dont mind waiting as long as my 7950 doesnt decide to die on me.

It'll still be a good chunk faster, and do freesync and all that fine stuff.

Would definitely be upgrading from a 7950 as the RX 480 won't lose much of its value in 6 months when the "real" cards of this generation are released.

And remember these benchmarks aren't official as drivers could improve until the official release.

Lol, you won't like me then, being a Brit in the US having to write an my stuff in US English. Hard to flip flop between them as so similar.

10 days left to release?

Don't get me wrong I like the septic tanks. In fact given different circumstances I'd happily move there. I do expect them to accept I do things differently like spelling as I respect their ways. To be fair the younger generation seem to be pretty clued up about the rest of the world now they don't have to rely on the US media and have the Internet.

I did think about this, but it seems easier to just wait :)

7950 is alright, I upgraded from mine to a 980 when they released and had roughly double the performance all round, so 480 should be double the 7950 perf.

I'm still on 2500k sandybridge myself but I'm not buying another 4 core in 2016, Zen next for me :D

If wccf don't hurry up and release the "big leak" they promised today, they are officially full of it and links to wccf should be auto-corrected to penisland.com or something :p

If I was ever lucky enough to own my own island I would definitely call it Pen island :D

Possible 36 CU's is all that we'll get with P10?

Lol, it's all in the spelling. I used to be in QA in the pharmaceutical industry. US spelling is like a stab in the eye with a sharp stick ;)
Ah right yea. I completely forget it about except when autocorrect comes up and tries to turn me British. :)

Well, I actually am British too, technically, just grew up in the US.

Leave Loads alone Alamo!

He clearly feels like he got burnt on his Fury crossfire purchase and this is his defence mechanism kicking in the poor fella.

That said, there was plenty of info available showing going crossfire at the time was a bad idea, so in the end it was self inflicted pain :p

:( :D

Slower than the 970. :o

lol

Perhaps some low power mode or something. None of this is adding up to the excitement shown by those who have seen the cards in action. One of the reviewers said shot's fired. Was he suggesting the AMD board topped themselves? If it's this slow then AMD are in some serious trouble. Other leaks suggest otherwise so we shall see.

I can't wait for the 29th to see what's what.

The other leaks such as the 3dmark scores all point to it being at least 390x performance not to mention it's theoretical performance of around 5.83Tflops is 390X level.

If it's slower in VR then it's only a problem if you have an occulus, etc in which you wouldn't really be buying a low end card.

Bench can be buggy, but I'm pretty sure AMD wouldn't use a bugged result, and it seems like Tom's graph results have ruled out buggy results.

But yes, it's not necessarily a completely accurate picture of gaming performance, just like any artificial bench.

Problem being this card is aimed at VR so should really be doing better than what AMD are suggesting in this slide.
