Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

go a few pages back through this thread for the info, but its been listed on one pc parts suppliers website in the uk at £253. weather thats the real price or just a random place holder who knows.

I doubt there will be 'reference' designs at lunch, typically on mid range products like this you get customs models from day dot.

I wouldn't like to eat any graphics cards :)

They keep showing off a reference design so one can only assume that is going to be released.

It's not a real price until you can go through the checkout and buy one.

We all know that deliberately mis-pricing items when you have no stock is a common practice used by many e-tailers. Stock comes in and the price shoots back to normal.

Having any price (even if wrong) might be a good way to get page-hits on a highly anticipated pre-release product.

3DMark is very Shader and Shader Mhz based, it really doesn't take into account any architectural features.

Which is not a bad thing as its a measure of the GPU's raw power without any Voodoo science culling here and compressing there...

What it does not do, proverbially, is indicate actual gaming performance, thats where the science plays its part.

With that Polaris is more sophisticated than Hawaii and Fiji, clock for clock there is no doubt that Hawaii has more raw power, and yet add the unknown science into the equation Polaris may use more of its raw power than Hawaii has, thats not a contradiction.

In gaming performance it may be more than the sum of its parts, it may yet surprise.

Tho don't use that to get your hopes up again.

If the 3DMark performance is a true indication then i have to say its nothing like a "Disruptive card"
Its a good card, its well priced, but it is not the game changer AMD need, the 1070 scores 45% higher, i don't think Nvidia have much trouble placing a 1060 in there just as fast or even faster, i think they would have wanted more than £230 for it but if Nvidia wanted to deny AMD sales 'again' i think they could.

IMO AMD just haven't done enough, they have very conservatively estimated Nvidia 'again' and gone with that, again.

It should have been a slightly bigger card for this money, if they wanted to disrupt Nvidia.

I thought e-tailers mis-priced the new Nvidia cards too....

yes thats the one i was talking about, it was 270€ VAT incl, thats 215£, then shipping was another 30€ that puts it in the 238£.
the prices i put will probably be spot on even in ocUK.

i was on about the uk site :P

and yes foxeye could be them just trying to drive up some traffic but seems odd if there is a nda that so many sites have them listed.

I found one for £240, one for £237, and there was one for £234 yesterday. Near the top of the Google results too so I dont know why people keep saying £253?? That price is from a rip off high street retailer.

and this is the 8gb Sapphire model, the reference and other cards like pcs+, msi, powercolor should be cheaper. Easy £210-220.

Doesn't the fact that we're still under NDA make these prices less reliable, not more?

Anyway, this wccf leak... has it happened? Nothing on their site.

Its terribly sad that their GPUs have gone the way their CPUs did :(

what are you basing this on? we don't even know the final performance of 480 - seriously baseline performance we've gotten about 980 in DX11 and higher in DX12.....

Where its priced is fine - looks like there is a lot damage control and mis information being released about 480 performance......

There is no performance yet, all speculation and dodgy leaks, no prices yet either, all speculation. :)

No competitor price hinting.
All this pricing talk is going to get us all banned :o

Anyway, yeah, what gives with the Wccf thing, they tweeted there would be big leaks today, nothing yet.

3D Mark bench are 100% legit as videocardz said, so that gives a pretty solid feel for the performance.
price there is no real magic to it $msrp to £ add 20% then add 5-10%, you will get the spot on price, you can apply it to the 10 series.
