Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Its gone from being around the 390s performance, to slower than the 970, to now faster than the Ti/TX, and around the 1070, i can't bloody wait to see where it is next week, probably be ******* all ower the 1080! :D

Im gona say £300+ for these rumoured so called 'beast' customs, and the big thread full of the usual ******* and moaning, as per :p

Realistically I expect around 390X/980 performance and with overclocking a bit more. To think it comes close to TitanX is a bit much I think.

at 1233mhz around 980 - fury nano performance, 1400 getting into stock 980ti/fury x, 1500+ titan x/1070 and beyond!

Also more leaks that a time traveling Alsatian gave to my grandfather down the pub during world war 2.

Surprised it has a backplate as the one shown on stage didn't, possible that the one with the backplate is the 8 gig version and its there to help cool the ram?

Getting wound up. My 280X was up for sale and again person who won auction hasn't paid. 480 release is just around the corner, damn it!

Second time in ten days it's happened.
That's why I always stick everything up as BIN and requiring instant payment these days. Not worth the hassle of dealing with timewasters who buy things just to secure them, then either change their mind or get a better deal elsewhere and don't pay.

Good idea. I want rid of this thing before second hand prices drop further.

I'm going to say around £220-£270, upper end of that for the custom boards. I can't see them breaking £300.

Personally, i think most stuff has indicated that AMD are ensuring supply is good.

I think we've got a few things that have impacted the 1070 / 1080 price;

  • Supply, it's not been great.
  • The whole "Price reference higher" has been a bit of a disaster. Custom manufactuers just pricing higher for their better versions rather than less / same.
  • Manufacturers and Retailers taking an opportunity to increase margins.

Now, with Overclockers UK. I can completely understand when they price higher, they offer a level of service that nobody else in this sector provides. Providing that level of service costs money, so sometimes you have a premium for that.

I still think the 480 will be somewhere around Nano performance at stock and if overclocked to a reliable and stable level - around 10% slower than a 1070 FE at stock at 3D Mark Ultra... Anyones guess in games though, could be quite close in fully DX12 utilised games. Games benchmarks are where it's going to matter most, for example a Fury X is 10% slower than a 1070 FE at Ultra in 3D Mark - but in games it's a different story (and in some games the Fury X will beat the 1070).
