I assume GPU-Z is GPU-Z since it's an acronym and also a western word. Asian countries actually use western words often for technical things.

Yeah, but I dunno what "please" "download" and things like "temperature" and "clocks" are in (I assume) Chinese? :p

If it's 970 perf for £200+ it's an epic failure. Massive ship of fail, etc.

If it's 970 perf for <£150 it's OK, but nothing to get excited about. It's dull, in fact.

If it's 980 perf for £165 then I'd say it was worth the wait. But it won't be. It's going to be one of the above. It's going to be a massive anti-climax.

AMD, meanwhile, will say it's a triumph. Because frankly still being in business is a triumph for them.

+1
FoxEye knows what's up. Back before any of these leaks, I expected 970/390 performance from the RX480, at current 380 prices. Which is actually pretty decent for anyone who can't afford more than £160 for a GPU. Many of these recent rumours and such have been touting it may be a tad more and comparable to a 980/390x.

As the above quoted says... 970+ at £165 and it's a great card. Considering AMD want to actually sell this card and that they've seen some backlash against the 1000 series pricing... it would be reasonable to think that 8gb custom cards might be available for a penny under £200. Though any above £200 and they won't sell so well. People at the 380/960 part of the market aren't suddenly gong to pay more for their graphics cards.

And with the hype of it being 'an overclockers dream' and reaching 980ti levels? Don't make me laugh.

As a realist, I find ridiculous optimism a bit damaging. I've been let down by a lot fo thing in life before, I won't let this GPU be another.

Keep expectations low folks. Then if it turns out amazing... you can be glad. If it turns out worse... you can only blame yourselves for expecting more. That or the terrible economy atm... I never thought I'd see the day where an x70 Nvidia card sells for over £400 for a good AIB model...

Now if you want a die-shrink card with reasonable pricing to hit 980ti performance... AMD would have to release something around the £300 mark. Nvidia failed there as the 1070 is way more than it should be.

Speaking of which... that £400 weekend deal on OCUK for a 980ti was so tempting... I almost bought one. Alas I don't have the money for it and I know it's not the performance I want, so I held myself back.

The 1080 is for those who want the fastest card and don't mind paying for it, the 1070 is a sweet upgrade and at a reasonable price, the 480 will be for those on older systems or those who want to get into PC gaming and at entry level.

Almost Gregster... if I remember correctly, on another thread discussing 1070 pricing, even you said it's not priced too great in the UK. So change that reasonable to unpleasant and that's representative.

Before the 1070 launched... even I was considering one as a temporary upgrade before Vega/1080ti. With these prices... I might as well wait and only cough up once for the bigger card. If the 1080ti is anything like the 980ti was compared to 980... I think we'll finally see a card that is truly satisfactory at 4k. And Vega by extension.

And that's just an example that people generally won't increase their GPU budget just because the only option is priced a fair bit higher. After buying my 970 last year... I won't buy a hi-mid-range card for more than £300. Lucky for me I'm looking at the top end for my next purchase. And thankfully I've got plenty of time to save up.

Exception is a few months time where I expect to be buying an RX480 for my younger brother's birthday. I won't spend more than £200 on it and will go for a AIB design. If it's 970 or better, then I'm okay with that purchase.

Also why is everyone going mad over some livestream? What's going on? Is an RX480 about to be decapitated?

Edit: This guy could be putting on an eloborate hoax you know... or maybe he'll get swatted by AMD for legit breaking the NDA lol

He's well prepared for this stream, 1 random ass benchmark that nobody can identify and having to look up 3d mark...0_o

Also worth noting the CPU he's using is a 4-core Haswell arch. with hyperthreading, max boost clock of 3.8 GHz.

So in other words, a 4770k at 3.8 GHz.
