Well Gibbo said his "landing price" was >$200.

The MSRP is $239.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that the "landing price" is slap bang in the middle, at $220. Add on 10% as OcUK's margin.

Convert $:£ at 1:1.

You end up with £239, which is where I expect the *reference* AMD 8gb variants to be.

Aftermarket AIB cooled variants will be >£240, up to £300 for the ASUS.

Look at the 1070 and 1080 - £ price numbers were above the $ price numbers lol. Can't see why they won't do same with these - Rip off Britain remember.

Maybe because the stock levels on the 1070 are poor. Low stock and higher demand always leads to prices that are way higher than they should be. Gibbo said there is plenty of stock for the RX480 so prices should be reasonable unlike with the 1070.

limited stock also play a big part in pushing the price up like that. Which it appears the RX480 is very good for stock from what Gibbo said a few pages back. with him mentioning that they have far more stock in comparison to the 1080 when it launched.

sep dollar never converts 1:1 ;) as the msrp is 229 not 239....

right now if you convert 229 to pounds its 155.93 X 30% vat would put it at 202.75 - add in 10% puts it at 222.75. now put that at 15% its 232.78 roughly.

if my VAT is off and its 20% then its 187.15; and if you add in 10 margins its 205.87; with 15% margins its 218.03.

If they went with 20% margins is where it starts gouging. You can't go 1:1 with the pound and dollar as the pound is worth more - until the pound drops......its simple economics.....so again stop trying to raise the price.

hell even with 20% margins its only 224.58 :p which falls in most likely we'll see 8g version at max 220 more likely some models cheaper......and 4g version under 200....

Why are you guessing the costs still? I confirmed yesterday that channel stock (low volume pricing) for the XFX Core 8GB card was £169 + VAT, so they will be £229 or less at retail unless the retail outlet you chose are gougers. Please note this is channel pricing, e.g. not available to general public.

Surely you have no interest in getting one, Even if it overclocks well and manages to beat the Fury it won't be a worthwhile change, Add to that how these Fury Tri-x's are such a nice card to live with and we're sitting pretty either way.

Nah I'm happy with what I've got. Runs everything I play like a dream. Cool and quite. I just love new tech all.

Is yours unlocked btw?

Is the 470 expected to come out on the 29th too? Some sites are saying yes, but there's a distinct lack of leaks compared to the 480, even though we have more official performance figures from AMD. I haven't seen any listings or photos of the card as yet either, aside from the one AMD showed.

If the UK price gouging for the 480 turns out to be too much and the 470 isn't too cut down I'll go for that instead. I'm not paying more than £200 for a graphics card, and the cut down model is often better value than the full one (see 970 vs 980, 290 vs 290x and 380 vs 380x).

Short stock. Some of those 1080 are £100 more than they will be next month when stock becomes plentiful again.

I suspect with 1000 480s already in stock at ocuk, shortage wont be an issue.

Price and availability is not going to hamper sales for the RX480. Although the lack of any fancy led lighting could spell its doom :)

I wanted a white version card but seems I may have to wait on the AIB.

Indeed. Look at the 1070 gaming X. 10+ in stock since yesterday and still the same today. Very surprising and perhaps the first sign that people aren't willing to pay the silly prices.

I would love a 1070 gaming X but wont pay a penny over £400 at the very most ( ideally Ill probably wait trill they are nearer £350-£375 or so though)

Once stock becomes plentiful prices will come down decently, especially if we vote to stay in the eu and our currency sky rockets.

That still leaves you needing one more for the 3rd PC, right? Or do you not need all 3 PC's?

Don't really need the third. At a high level this is my set up: http://i.imgur.com/Qvbof5T.png

The Gaming PC 2 is currently sat gathering dust in the garage as I am using the desk space for one of the laptops. My girlfriend uses it to run her business so it's better she uses a docked laptop connected up to a 29" superwide ( great for invoices and admin) then keep firing up my gaming PC. I will keep it, just without the GPU. The HTPC and Gaming PC 1 will get the RX480.
