yes its supposed to be released also on the 29th; with leaked benches it supposed to sit around 290/970 speeds......

Yeah, I saw those, it just seems odd that there haven't been any listings anywhere, and we still don't know how many CUs it has.

Is the 470 expected to come out on the 29th too? Some sites are saying yes, but there's a distinct lack of leaks compared to the 480, even though we have more official performance figures from AMD. I haven't seen any listings or photos of the card as yet either, aside from the one AMD showed.

If the UK price gouging for the 480 turns out to be too much and the 470 isn't too cut down I'll go for that instead. I'm not paying more than £200 for a graphics card, and the cut down model is often better value than the full one (see 970 vs 980, 290 vs 290x and 380 vs 380x).

The 470 may indeed turn out to be the gem of the cards. If that 3d mark scores are accurate it could be 970 performance for 150quid.

sep dollar never converts 1:1 ;) as the msrp is 229 not 239....

right now if you convert 229 to pounds its 155.93 X 30% vat would put it at 202.75 - add in 10% puts it at 222.75. now put that at 15% its 232.78 roughly.

if my VAT is off and its 20% then its 187.15; and if you add in 10 margins its 205.87; with 15% margins its 218.03.

If they went with 20% margins is where it starts gouging. You can't go 1:1 with the pound and dollar as the pound is worth more - until the pound drops......its simple economics.....so again stop trying to raise the price.

hell even with 20% margins its only 224.58 :p which falls in most likely we'll see 8g version at max 220 more likely some models cheaper......and 4g version under 200....

VAt is 20% so it's £205 with the same 10% extra the 1080 has, less than that without it. However the 10% isn't OCUK's margin.

When say Curries or something sell a TV with a £499 RRP, they don't buy it for £499 then try and sell it for 10% to make a 10% profit. The £499 price factors in a cut for distributors, shipping and retailer mark up. Adding extra on top of the RRP means EXTRA profit, not the only profit.

Just so people know our landed cost on 8G version is over $200 !!!

Did AMD announce 8G at $199 or 4G?

$200 to $300 for the 480 range, we are guessing $200 for the 4GB reference, $240 for 8GB and $300 for the AIB cards.

If its $210 there costing you £170 with VAT, about £220 to £240 Retail was the prediction for the reference 8GB, about £180 to £200 for the 4GB one

£300 incoming.

AIB ones yes.

Well as long as it outperforms my 290x at 1440p by a good margin count me in, I might even get a second if it's priced at £200.

Two things point to this being most likely inaccurate.

  1. 970 is listed as minimum spec for VR ready.
  2. AMD do not list RX470 as VR ready (it's borderline according to them).
Therefore if 470 was equivelant to 970 speeds AMD would list it as VR ready, the fact they don't indicated below 970 speeds for RX 470.

Maybe they have different views on what vr ready is.

As with the 480 those leaks are probably fake, Gibbo said more like <980 for the 480, AMD's only performance indication suggests its actually slower than a 970, Steam VR bench 6.3 which is way lower than a 970.

The 470 is probably more like a 380 / 960.

Thank you. Someone with a clue finally.

All this OcUK's margin business is perturbing. Their profit is already included in the MSRP... Anything extra is what is known as price gouging. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is as simple as that.

They can understandably do this with the 1070/1080 due to supply and demand. But if there are plenty of 480s in stock and if they price it high, then people will just go buy it elsewhere.
