I'll give it another day or two I think, see if the 970-980 prices drop then pick one of them up.
Lol at the presentation of the 480, they tried to get 3d mark to run, i noticed a driver has stopped responding near the clock area and they are messing around doing all sorts to try and fix it.Drivers will suck apparently.

So slower than an OC GTX 970, and we know those OC like beasts. This isn't going to be pretty for AMD. No wonder Raja is trying to divert people's attention to Vega.
Actually in most games the Zotac 970 AMP is around 5%-10% slower than a 980 which means RX 480 gets nowhere near 980. Unless the "mythical magic" drivers give a 15%-20% boost then RX 480 is actually slower than R9 390. It needed to be 390X or 980 performance for it to be a decent upgrade.
R9 390 8GB has been available for over a year at ~£230 and to match that performance and price puts RX 480 in the crap camp.
So let me get this straight, the 380X beats an overclocked 970 in Metro:LL 1080p and practically matches it in World of Tanks while beating the 480 that is supposed to be twice the speed. sounds legit
All absolute rubbish imo. Leaving the 480 for one moment, the 380X is nowhere near a stock 970 let alone an OC version. How can anyone take these results seriously?![]()

It beat it with medium settings.
there is nothing on those graphs to suggest that, where do you get the different setting from ?
Honestly the RX 480 is basically starting to look and sound much like a GTX 970 with more memory. Boggles the mind that nvidia did all of this two years ago on 28nm.
Those results are bs
