Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Come on posh coffee awnser the simple question.

Wait and see, make your own mind up once you know whats what. :)

Like most people yes I am sure we are capable of doing such but doing so with realistic expectation also in belief that it will be an ideal performing card for the money.

I don't really mind or care what preference you have, it makes no difference to my or others interest in this RX480 card. Although I question your continued and constant discussions of Nivida or their products raised time and time again in this thread. Do you ever stop to think that perhaps some people want to buy an AMD card or are excited by this one. Do you think your brand swiping brings much enjoyment to the discussion or relevance until we know the actual performance of the card?

Sorry but I have lost count on the number of times you have tried to show Nvidia as a better option, superior in some way or make claims this card is or will be a failure, a flop, already available in the 970 with less ram, or that better Nvidia alternatives are already available in clearance sales and by your own comments its varied from being a 960-980ti performance as you jump like a jack in the box on all the unproven leaks with little common sense or patience.

People have tried and asked you several times but it is evident you do not respect other peoples interest in this card or their own purchase choice for them to make.

I just find it all rather rude but then Im on medication and it is rather late at night.

Your talking a whole lot of crap, nothing but BS and exaguration. If you want be critical of me thats fine, i can respond to that but your being very hyperbolic about it, you don't argue any of the points i actually made, you just make it up as you go along and take issue with that.
It seems to me because i have an Nvidia GPU in my signature and compare the 480 to it you have convinced yourself that i'm Nvidia shilling, how do you expect me to respond to that? Do you expect me to agree with you? and if i don't; more hyperbole?

i'll say this, i have been acussed of being an AMD fanboi from one side and and Nvidia fanboi from the other.

If you're not singing the virtues for one side OR ther other you #### everyone off.

Actually decided to go and look at the 1080 reviews. Damn! That is a beast of a card. Honestly wish I could justify the price. Sadly, 390 to 1070 is probably my limit for now until I upgrade my CPU.

2 days... should be fun on release of the reviews :-)

It's pretty much just superclocked 980Ti so by certain fanboys standards 'we had that performance last year'.

Tell me If someone as 290 would 480 be bad upgrade?

Small benefits, but I'm not going to bother upgrading from 290 to 480. I'm waiting for 490 (Vega) which is the true upgrade for all those with 290/390. It's just not worth laying out that kind of money for a small improvement when it could be put aside towards a 490.

So slower than an OC GTX 970, and we know those OC like beasts. This isn't going to be pretty for AMD. No wonder Raja is trying to divert people's attention to Vega.

Crap if true. Utter crap. For £200+, you get ~970 perf.

To get higher, you have to overclock it (see couple posts up), which dramatically increases temp (88 degrees) and power.

Congrats AMD. The quicker you get bought out, the quicker we can have some real competition.

No confidence.

It's up to driver improvements, pricing and AIB performance now!

Bear in mind that Polish mag may have have done it's tests before final drivers.

We shall see. I'm not as excited as I was about 480 as I was when it was announced, but we may yet be surprised. The reference card was never going to be the performance card; and at least as far as we know it doesn't throttle at stock ;)
